I bought this car about a year ago used. At the time the mileage was 153k, it drove fine. I usually would not buy a vehicle with that many miles but there were no leaks and the engine was smooth. The previous owner had all back up maintenance. As soon as I got it I did an oil change and about two months later my husband did all the four brakes and rotors. The gas gauge went out and had a speedometer mechanic come out and it was a bad solder also has electric problems. Now about a year later as I am driving to work my transmission is skipping gears. So now I know for sure a rebuilt transmission is needed.

Not a good vehicle. Replaced the transmission, then that went bad. Turned out to be a real nightmare.

Scary - traveling down highway and vehicle looses power. Push gas pedal and the car barely moves.

This actually is the third time this has happened. Can't tell the date of first time. Have taken in to Nissan twice trying to solve problem. Both times told could not find any thing . This is very scary. I am afraid to drive van. Afraid to pull into traffic for fear it will not move. The last time 1/27/17 I Had to travel home via the interstate after it happened. Scared the vehicle would loose power in front of an eighteen wheeler going excess speed.
What do I do? Afraid to carry my grandchildren or anyone in my van!!!!!!!!!

I will need to replace the transmission. It has been getting worse over the past few weeks. I took it to a mechanic during which he plugged in the diagnostic computer. It came back with 10 codes - all of whom were transmission-related. I see there was a class-action lawsuit filed against Nissan USA in 2011 regarding defective automatic transmissions. I want to know if there was ever a recall issued by NHTSA (I already contacted NHTSA and await a response); or was there any settlement reached by Nissan. Nothing much more to do than to cough up roughly $2,000 or more for a replacement/rebuilt transmission.

The rpm's go up and then the transmission engages with a terrible jerk. I shift from park to drive it hesitates then it jerks. It doesn't do it on a cold start, only after I drive it for about 10 minutes. Car dies while driving as SLIP light comes on. It's extremely dangerous situation.

I have had nothing but problems with this 2006 Nissan Quest. Had to pay out of my pocket for a transmission new also recently I need a rack and pinion for the power steering oil leak. Also had to replace the drivers side window switch. Replaced brakes front and rear twice. Airbag light is going flashing crazy. The speedometer and gas gauge is out.

This is my first Nissan Vehicle and I will never, ever purchase another one again. This is the worst vehicle I ever owned. First it was the run flat tires that we purchase numerous times and had to change to regular tires. After that it went completely downhill. The brakes, the axles, sensors, both horns, transmission, starter, electrical, gas gauge, sliding doors wouldn't automatically open and close, alternator, rain leaking thru right side passenger side of hood, engine and tire light on constantly, control arms.

I am waiting to see what the cost is for a new transmission; to rebuild it will cost $4900...in the mean time I have to rent a car!!!!

I just thought the chirping shifting between 2nd and 3rd was not a big deal but the transmission shop said that it also was not shifting into 5th gear. It took 3 weeks to get a re-manufactured unit because there are so many failing that they can't keep up with demand.
I get a 36 month warranty. There was a class action suit I joined but it may have been dropped, not sure. Nissan knew this transmission had problems and continued installing it into vehicles anyway. They need to recall these transmissions and refund some of the money people have had to pay for premature failures. Yes it made it to the 60,000 mile warranty so I suppose that I don't have a case against them but every car on the road these days should be able to make 100K miles without having to replace the transmission. I don't drive the car hard either, I got that out of my system 20 years ago.
Beware if you are buying a used one, use it as leverage on price if the transmission has not been replaced. I still love my Quest even though it has had this issue.

Car will not go into gear. Transmission is shot. Read many others have had this same problem. Have had the car serviced regularly by the dealer for the life of the car. Purchased new from the same dealer providing the service. Told the cost to replace will be $3,000. What kind of piece of junk transmission goes at fewer than 100,00 miles?

Good looking car but the transmissions are crap. Had regular maintenance done on car and tranny. Continue to have transmission problems finally, I heard a loud noise and the transmission is no good. What a piece of junk haven't done nothing but put money in to this car since I had it.
