About These NHTSA Complaints:
The NHTSA is the US gov't agency tasked with vehicle safety. Complaints can be spread across multiple & redundant categories, & are not organized by problem. See the Back button — blue bar at the very top of the page — to explore more.
I being having this problem a couple months already. Everytime that I drive my Nissan Quest for a while the gears start slipping. Before and after I make a stop it's like somebody hit me in the back.

Transmissions gear slips and jerks unexpectedly. You never know when it will jerk when accelerating. Will probably need to rebuild the whole transmission that will cost plenty. Also dangerous for my family to drive.

Transmission is failing on this 2007 Nissan Quest. Surges, drops, delays in acceleration creating very dangerous situations on the road. This is apparently a common issue with this vehicle.

I was driving on the interstate when I loss acceleration and had realized my car had shut off. I was towing a trailer behind me and had to try to make it to the edge of the road. I was unsure of why I first because my gas gauge showed I had a quarter of a tank. I got fuel put in it and then it worked. This year I had my engine light come on and showed a problem with the fuel sending unit. I took it too the garage and had to change the fuel pump and sending unit. After fixing the fuel pump, I drove for 300 miles and my gas gauge only moved a quarter of tank down, meaning my fuel gauge is still not working. No one seems to know how to fix this problem and is unsafe if you are on a highway and lose power to your car at highway speeds.

My wife was driving the car with kids in back, at traffic signal she stopped at left lane turn left. When left green signal was given, she released brakes and couldn't move as intended. She described to me that engine was running and as if all brakes were engaged. She made slowly left turn dragging car and stopped at right side of the road and called me asking that she is unable to move the car and engine is still running. She also informed that car is at safe area of road and could able to get out and walk to kids activity school. Upon arrival at the location, couldn't start and called for aaa help. Aaa tested battery and it was okay; fuel gauge was showing slightly below tank mark. Asked aaa to tow the car to my home as it was getting late in evening. While looking for details on internet for possible causes I noticed possibilities of wrong fuel indication. So added a gallon fuel and car started and worked normally. I am planned to switch the car with my wife to test this car next few week for safe operation.

I was driving at 45 mph and pressed the gas. It was early Sunday morning, very light traffic. I pressed the gas pedal to accelerate and did not hear the engine respond. I looked at my gauges and the tachometer was at 0. I realized the engine was not running. I tried revving the gas pedal but nothing happened. I managed to guide my car off the road into an entrance road to a business. I put the car in park and attempted to start it. The engine turned over but would not catch. The gas gauge showed a quarter of a tank and no light was on. I called my wife and she brought a gas can. I poured it the gas. The car immediately started. I went to a gas station. The car took 19 gallons. The capacity was 20 gallons so the car was empty. I have been monitoring since. On a typical week my car is slightly under half a tank. This week my car was a little bit under three quarter 3/4 full. The trip odometer showed I had gone 174 miles. I filled up the car and it took 11.3 gallons. This indicate the tank is almost exactly 1/4 off. I was very lucky when the car stalled I could pull off safely. I have seen many post on the internet regarding this issue on this year car. What has to happen to get this addresses" this is the same problem as the frontier and pathfinder and xterra are having for the same year. They all have the same 3.5 liter engine. Any one checking to see if the Quest has the same fuel pump/sender assembly" the similarities are just to obvious.

The rattling noise began at 45,000 miles. When I accelerate, a rattling chain sound is heard from the engine area. I currently have 50,000 miles on my 2007 Nissan Quest. It has to be replaced or it will eventually do damage to the engine. It's an 8 hr process. It's estimated at $1800 for the repair. The timing chain needs to be replaced and there's no recall. There is a repair bulletin out but no recall. The speedometer reads 20-25mph when it's at "parked" and sometimes when the engine is turned off. I am driving 60mph on a local road and 100mph on the freeway. The rear blower turns on by itself when I turn on the engine. I have to shut off the engine and the blower turns off. The front blower is off during the entire time. These are repairs that have been experienced by other owners and yet there's no recall, only service bulletins.

The contact owns a 2007 Nissan Quest. While driving at 30 mph, the vehicle suddenly began to accelerate. The contact shifted into neutral to stop the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealership but the dealer stated that nothing was wrong with the vehicle. The contact called the manufacturer and filed a complaint. The vehicle had not been repaired at the time of the complaint. The current and failure mileages were approximately 26,000.

On this date our 2007 Nissan Quest van, while stopped at a stop light surged to over 3500 rpms (this is an estimate because I did look at the rpms until after the peak of revving). I stood on the brakes and kept the van from moving into the intersection, then shoved it into neutral. The engine came back to normal RPM range. On 2/9/07 I was stopped at a stop sign and the van once again surged, this time I noted it went over 5000 rpms. I jammed on the brakes and kept it from moving into on coming traffic. I shoved it into neutral again avoiding an accident, the rpms returned to normal range. I made the dealership aware of both incidents and had it into service both times. They found nothing wrong and made no repairs. We then called Nissan customer service and lodged a complaint. A factory technician inspected the van on 3/19/07. He found nothing wrong, made no repairs and declared that the van was fine. We will not drive the van and my wife who is disabled, is left without the use of her motorized wheelchair. We bought the van for the express purpose of using it to Transport her chair. We have been without our van for over 2 and 1/2 months as of today's date, 3/31/07. Thank you for any help you may be able to give.
