paint cracking and peeling

This problem started at least 2 years ago -- the factory paint seemed to be peeling from a spot in the center-top of the engine compartment hood. I thought it must be the result of corrosion from a road ding caused a rock, but it continued to worsen. Other places on the car began peeling even though they were unlikely to have road damage, such as on the top of the car and on the right rear near a window. The paint peeling has accelerated and now the paint looks horrible, with several square feet of paint missing (see photo). There is a very similar complaint on carcomplaints.com about a 2011 Nissan Quest. I think Nissan should be held responsible somehow. I don't live where road salt is typically used for winter conditions, and it affects mostly the outer layer of paint. This is obviously a factory paint issue. The painted areas in question are all covered in factory paint, never re-painted.

Quest SV 3.5L

This has been a pretty good old van really. That being said I feel certain the happy days will end soon with all the known issues with Nissan in general. I've been particular about maintenance especially concerning the cvt and just hoping to run this thing out for awhile before I have to junk it. Now of all things the paint has began peeling and flaking off in several areas, leaving the primer exposed underneath. As I was washing it today an area the size of a silver dollar on the hood literally popped open right before my eyes. Any known actual remedies would be appreciated.
