I was coasting down a small hill in town when I heard the engine stutter. When I tried to give it more gas it cut out completely! Luckily I was able to pull off to the side of the road and bring the van to a stop ... thank goodness it wasn't a bigger hill.
I let it sit for a minute, turned the key and the engine started right up. I haven't had the problem since. Do you think it was bad gas from the last gas station I went to?
Update from Mar 9, 2012: Nissan recalled all Quest minivans manufactured between 07/29/2010 and 02/21/2012 for this problem!
Apparently the Quest has faulty software controlling the fuel pump module, so the pump feeds an insufficient amount of fuel to the engine "in certain situations". Turns out going downhill with less than 1/4 tank of gas is one of them! Research NHTSA #12V076000.
