It was at night and I buckled my seat belt in the backseat of the car. When we arrived at our destination, I went to release my seat belt but there was no release mechanism. My husband got out the flashlight and we could not figure out how to release my seat belt. We tried starting and restarting the car, pulling on the seat belt in hopes it would release, which only made it tighter. Finally after about 30 minutes of panic, we finally cut the belt. Upon further investigation, I had inadvertently buckled into the middle seat belt which holds the shoulder strap and needs a key to release it. I didn't even know this existed. Why would you make something like this where the regular seat belt fits into it? This is a very poor design and I was fortunate enough to have been in a location where I had access to scissors to be freed. The seat belt cost me $500 to replace and now Nissan has told me that they will not pay for the repair. Ridiculous!
