I was driving the vehicle and stopped at a Sonic drive thru. I shifted the car into park and I began to hear a very loud creaking noise. When I shifted the car into drive, the car wouldn-??t move. I called a Firestone mechanic and he concluded that it was the CV belt that is connected to the transmission. Regardless, only a transmission shop could handle this issue. I called CARMAX AUTO, and spoke with a JASON HEWITT. Mr Hewitt informed me that CarMax will have a tow truck come get the car. The following day, the car was towed by CarMax to Amaco for an official diagnostic. I was notified the following day that my vehicle had a damaged axle and appears to have been cause by a -??car accident.-?? Mr Hewitt told me to file a claim in my insurance. I told Mr Hewitt that most likely the tow company damaged my axle. He stated he didnt know what exactly caused it but they will not be able to address the transmission issue until this axle and converter is paid for. Additionally, I-??ve had the car for 14 months and 6 months into my lease agreement, the check engine light came and stayed on due the catalytic converter. The air and heat stopped working in September of 2023.

I was driving at night on a backroad highway & noticed the driver headlight out so I started used my brights, then noticed smoke & flames coming from the driver side headlight I immediately pulled over called 911 & tried pouring water on it myself while I wait. Took about 8 mins for police & maybe 12-15 for fire department. The police tried to use a fire extinguisher which did not work, by the time fire department got there the whole car was completely up in flames & burnt to the ground.

I took the car to the dealership I purchased the car from because there were winning noises coming from the left side in the engine/transmission compartment. In addition to cut and unsealed wires under the dash and in the fuse box, as well as a stuck caliper (that they replaced for my convenience according to the service manager). The car has been in the dealer for a total of 2 weeks in the 1 month I have own the car and they have only fixed the caliper. My concern with the cut and unsealed wires is that lights (parking brake and battery) in the dash turn on while I am driving and it has turned off on me when coming to a stop. It happened to my wife (with my newborn in the car) when she was driving the car in the highway, she came to a stop because of traffic and the car turned off on her creating an unsafe environment for both my newborn and child. The response from the dealer was "we are unable to duplicate the failure, the computer doesn't show any codes" yet it happens to me frequently.

The first time the incident happened I was exiting the expressway and after stopping at a red light the car started to make a weird noise. When trying to accelerate through the green light the car would not move for 15 seconds. I even tried slamming the gas pedal down. After that I would always hear a whining noise when driving on the expressway or a prolonged amount of time. When driving out of state to Tennessee the car started to decrease in speed on a hill and I was almost hit by a cop. Pulling over at a gas I let the car sit for 30 mins. I tried to renter the expressway and the car still would not move. After a while I was able to get back on the expressway. Once in Tennessee the car barely made it up the hills I had to time it just right. On the way back to ga the car began the issues again and while trying to pull off the car decreased in speed so quickly I was almost hit by a semi-truck. I have taken the car in for the electrical recall that did not help. The car has had two complete tune ups nor has not worked. I refuse to pay out of my pocket for another transmission; which has not aided others in this same situation. I have been dealing with this for a year. Everyday it's a guessing game if the car will ever get me to and from work safely.

Driving to the beach, about two hours in on the interstate going 70+, I noticed the car lagged after I stopped on an exit when I tried to accelerate at the light. Didn't think much of it and went on to get food. Then another hour later I felt my speed suddenly dropping. I was going 80 on cruise control and then dropped down to 70, even though I was pushing the accelerator to the floor. Luckily I had time to pull over to an exit, I waited about 15 mins and the car seemed fine. About another 45 minutes later, I was driving and trying to merge on 1-95, the ramp is a big curve so I had to slow down to about 40 mph, when I went to accelerate to merge, the car would not accelerate. A tractor trailer almost slammed into the back but luckily I pulled off the road just in time. But the place I had to pull over was unsafe and made it difficult to merge on the interstate safely, but I had no choice of where to pull over because I was just trying to not get hit. This car is extremely unsafe and now my parents worry about my safety anytime I need to travel in this car for over 2 hours.
