My complaint is with the Nissan cvt transmission.
I purchased a 2010 Nissan Rogue in May of 2010 from Autofair Nissan in Manchester, NH. Within the first 4500 miles the transmission failed. The dealer replaced the transmission with what I understood to be a new transmission. I did not complain at that time and even though the car was less than 3 months old, I trusted the company to correct the issue. As I have recently found out it was a remanufactured part. In July of 2014 we were traveling in Maine and the car died. We had it towed to Augusta, ME (Charlie's Nissan). The car has 121,000 miles on it. The service dept concluded that the transmission was gone, again! The cost to me would be approximately $4,000. I really didn't feel this was right, having owned many cars in the past 30 yrs and never having a transmission issue, I felt it was a Nissan transmission problem and called Nissan consumer affairs immediately. After 1 week the representative, Chelsea Parsons got back to me saying she could give me 1500.00 toward the repair. Needless to say I was very disappointed and felt Nissan should cover the major cost of the repair. I asked who else I could speak to and she said the escalation dept. The next week I received a call from Sue Farwell (sp? Ext. 458-174) Essentially she said there was nothing else Nissan would do. She said I was out of the warranty for the vehicle and that Nissan was under no obligation to give me anything. I explained I understood, but thought under the circumstance where I had purchased a vehicle with a faulty transmission and kept the repaired vehicle, versus demanding a different car, Nissan would take that into consideration and correct the problem as the 2nd transmission was still under the 10 year 120,000 mile warranty (Due to the number of issues Nissan has had with the CVT, the warranty for the transmissions was raised to ten years or 120,000 miles.). Transmissions in a well maintained vehicle should not need to be replaced three time in four years. After looking online, I see many complaints about the Nissan cvt transmissions. Also, when speaking with the service mgr, he said he wasn't surprised, as they see many transmission issues in the Nissan cvt models, and this was from a NISSAN DEALER! I feel a fair resolution is for Nissan to cover the replacement of the transmission and supply the "new" transmission with a warranty of at least five years or 60,000 miles. I have contacted local, highly recommended/rated transmission garages and they quoted prices lower than Nissan AND will only replace Nissan cvt transmissions that carry lifetime (of the owner) parts and labor extended warranties due to the "high failure rate of the Nissan product."

After the dealer put in a new cvt tran.The vibration problem is still present. If this is how Nissan fixes their cars,I will never buy another one. I would not recommend a CVT trans. to anyone who is interested.

Feels like driving a vibrator.
Update from Jan 31, 2011: After having the CVT trans replaced, I still have the problem.
Took my car back to the dealer. They then replaced the stearing column. After a test drive by the dealer , they said this is normal vibration for this model.
If was normal why did it start after 7,000 + miles? And why did they try and fix it in the first place.
I am going to take it back one more time, before i hire a lemon law expert.
