Well, it looks like I am joining the growing list of Rogue transmission fails. Out of nowhere, the front end started wobbling and vibrating like the wheels were coming off - right at the 25 mph to 45 mph range. First, trusted shop advised taking it to transmission specialists. It is currently on the rack and getting cracked open for a peek inside. $400 out of pocket, so far. Local Nissan service department was no help, stating the original warranty period had lapsed. Purchased new in Jan 2011, only 67,000 miles. Will look at presenting findings to Nissan, but given what I have read, there is likely to be no good response from them.

Ok so I bought a new nissan rogue and first day I had a blow out. They put cheap tires on the truck. My door handle fell off. Breaks went out at 40,000 miles then now at 94,000 miles there going out again. My screen on the radio flixers. Oh around 70,000 miles or so it left me on the side of the road during a snow storm with no cell phone service. The rear end locked up and almost hit another car a intercection they towed it again replaced it and still makes a popping sound. Lets see if I had my list it would continue. Oh almost forgot my transmission went out it sat in the shop for almost 3 weeks due to some storm up north and they lost the trans that was already on back order. Now since my warrentie is going out im having more problems. The trans vibrates and it seems to shift gears even though its a CVT, I guess im screwed and trading this piece of crap. DO NOT BUY A NISSAN ROGUE!!!!

On March 1, 2013, the AWD light appeared in my instrument cluster at start-up and would not go off no matter what speed I drove at. I then drove the vehicle from a standing start, and then all the way up to 85 mph and back down again and the light still remained on, the AWD system would not turn off at speeds over 30 mph. Then, and shortly following this observation/ test run, I pulled off of the highway to turn engine off to see if the AWD system would reset itself and make the correct changes needed in order for me to operate the vehicle in a normal manner. Needless to say, this didn't help either, the light remained on at start-up and through-out my trip home. During the next day of operating the vehicle, the light remained on as always, and while negotiating a bend at very low speed, the engine sounded as if there were going to stall, and there became great hesitation in power and handling, and it immediately began to feel as if the vehicle began to accelarate at one point, as the rear wheels were pushing me through my turn, and without my having right foot on gas pedal! I immediately had to brake hard as the vehicle began to take off on its own, and spinning rear wheels in gravel when doing so. Today was the worst that I have experienced w/ Rogue and problem noted, as when making a bend at low speed the the vehicle began to chug and shake in moderation and had displayed the similar characteristics of one driving a standard shift and leaving off of the clutch too soon.

I had notified Nissan garage where I purchased the vehicle new, and have a 9:00 am appointment tomorrow to have problem checked out. When I know more upon the dealer looking at vehicle, I will share and post for everyone having similar problems w/ their Rogue, and to tell what the dealer's intentions are in regard to repair. One thing for sure, I plan on making them pay for a rental vehicle or give me one of their own, as there's no excuse for these things to happen, and their extending the warranty of the CVT transmission to 120,000 miles is a good indication that they are already aware of what I am saying in this report, as they have more than doubled the original factory warranty for this specific vehicle.

The problem is with vibration which can be felt in the steering wheel and a low rumble noise at speeds of 25-40 MPH when driving on a level surface at constant speed. I did report this problem to the Nissan dealership during my first service visit at 4500 miles. When I picked up the car, I was told the wheels had been rebalanced and the problem was fixed. Later, I determined that the problem still existed and had one of my coworkers drive the car to verify the vibration problem still existed. He confirmed it did in fact exist.

When driving at 30-40mph, on level roads, the CVT seemed to have a problem deciding whether it was in the pull or coast mode. There was a significant vibration in the steering wheel, also some audible noise. My concern was that this started on day one after I bought the car and seemed to slowly get worse. Also, Nissan extended the warranty on their CVT's from 5 yr./60,000 to 10 yr./120,000 - this told me it was a BIG PROBLEM for them. From a standstill, the CVT was also a little slushy as far as acceleration. The AWD system seems to me to be a little too tricky for the long run, but I'll never know, because I traded it in for a 2012 Forrester.
