Rogue

  • 90,000 miles
The contact owns a 2012 Nissan Rogue. The contact stated that while in reverse(R) an abnormal dragging sound was coming from the vehicle while depressing the brake pedal. There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a dealer on three separate occasions however, the mechanic was unable to duplicate the failure. On the fourth occasion, the contact was advised by her husband to have the dealer check the brake rotors and calipers. The dealer then discovered that the parts were defective, and the parts were replaced; however, after the repair was performed the failure persisted. The manufacturer had been notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 90,000.

Customer states brake pedal went to floor with no brakes, and ran a red light as a result. Unable to replicate the failure at this time, though complaint matches others reported to NHTSA. Brake system looks good in visual inspection and on multiple test drives performed acceptably. Fluid is full and clean. No codes present for any portion of the brake and vehicle stability control systems. No accident as a result of failure, though customer no longer trusts or feels safe in vehicle.

Rogue 4-cyl

  • 13,000 miles
After a panic stop which activates the ABS system, this vehicle is unresponsive to throttle input for an excessive period of time (10 seconds or more). This has been demonstrated to the dealer and a new, similar vehicle showed the same performance. The dealer indicates it must be inherent with the vehicle, no fix is available from Nissan. This unresponsiveness after a panic stop is un-safe.

I was on a highway in heavy traffic, travelling 5 mph in a brand new Nissan car that I had recently leased. I had to stop and go several times. During this time my brakes failed sporadically. Each time it stopped only after hitting the truck ahead. I was towed to the nearest Nissan dealer. It then took me two weeks to get to speak to an appropriate person. He was part of Nissan's arbitration department. He said he himself would feel unsafe to drive this car, and that his wife would definitely not let him drive it, even if Nissan failed to duplicate the problem. Therefore, if Nissan can?T duplicate the problem, I need to keep the same car. I have read reports on the NHTSA website that even after cars with similar brake problems were repaired, the same problem recurred. At the time of the incident the mileage on the car was 3200.
