problem #2

Rogue

  • CVT transmission
  • 63,565 miles

Fourth time this problem happened. I started my Rogue up, stepped on the brake and tried to shift into anything but Park. Nothing happened. The button on the shifter would not depress. I tried taking my foot off the brake and braking again, wiggling the steering wheel, pumping the brake, wiggling the shifter, pressing the "override" button on the bottom of the shifter, turned the engine off and then on again. In other words I cried in frustration. Then it suddenly depressed like it should and off I went. I only drive it to the dog park now, as I can walk home if necessary (a few miles in the COLD and DARK). Occasionally to work, if it will be daylight and someone else will be there if I have trouble. I really don't trust it anymore.

I have a 2012 nissan rogue. Recently the shifter will not unlock from park even after pressing the brake. We now have to press the overide buttom to release the shifter. It is a pain in the butt to do this everytime i get in the car. Has anyone else experienced this problem? I should not have to put out over 800 dollars just to fix this promblem. I feel that nissan should be responsible for this.
