I have 2012 Rogue and 82,900 miles. The noise issue started a couple of months ago. It can hardly be heard during driving but very small, high frequency, whining noise was generated oftentimes when the vehicle is accelerated from 10 ~ 40 mph. I brought the vehicle to a dealer and they told me that CVT fluids overheated and damaged CVT chain which costs me $4500 to replace and install a CVT cooling kit.
I bought an extended warranty but it expires just a month ago (Jun 16 2018). I had to call Nissan North America to resolve this issue and am waiting for their response.
I think this CVT issue is major design flaw. Why they need to install the cooling kit now that didn't exist when the vehicle was manufactured?
