I bought my Nissan rouge from a local dealer which sells an inventory of new and used cars including formerly leased vehicles. I bought the car (pearl white) in the late Fall of 2015.
I'd experienced no problems with the vehicle until June 2017. I first noticed a bubble on the rear passenger door around the door handle. I didn't initially think anything of it, until it began to peel over the course of several months. Earlier this year the peeling became worse and not only is the rear passenger door an issue, the paint on the hood of the car and top of the car is bubbling and peeling!!!! This is outrageous, I've only had the car 3 years and all of this is happening. I've gone to 3 autobody shops, who stated the issue is a manufacturing issue and I should first go back to the car dealership where I purchased the car; I did.
After, showing the car to one of the key managers, he first verified I had purchased the car from his dealership then came outside to "inspect" my car, only to be told " Its not his or the dealerships problem" its Nissan's problem but he'd be more than happy to so called "help me out" by charging me a "fee" to repaint the car. I though his comment was outrageous and basically started walking away. I was furious. I's gone to another Autobody shop, where I was told again this is a issue with Nissan or return to the dealership where I'd purchased the car. I contacted and visited two Nissan dealerships where I was told "they've never heard of this problem" or "they're not familiar with this problem with a Nissan vehicle". Neither dealership looked into the matter to investigate. Yet, there are multiple complaints concerning this exact issue nationwide, including New York with owners of a 2013 Pearl White Nissan Rogue. I am highly disappointed, I've spoken highly about Nissan vehicles, but I've certainly now have serious second thoughts and have expressed this to anyone with a Nissan, regardless of the model. I'm contacting Nissan corporate and see where this goes.
Any advise that can be provided will be appreciated.

Personally I would never recommend a Nissan Rogue. I have had the oldest problems with this vehicle. At 37132k miles the left front strut mount bearing went. Fortunately for me a mechanic instructed me to go back into the Nissan dealer and plead my case. It worked. Nissan did correct the left and right front strut mount bearings. Then the female part of the front passenger seat belt broke, weird. Nissan fixed it at no cost. They did handle a recall, the road connect inspected and installed a harness protector. This is what I was told. I have no idea what this is. Now the paint is seriously chipping away. This is ridiculous. Nissan just called me back today and instructed me to have an up-to-date paint evaluation written and to have the dealer take photos. So, lets see what they will do.

Paint chipping on the hood shortly after purchasing 2013 pearl white Rogue. I took it back to the dealer and he repainted the hood, I had approximately 28K miles at the time. However he failed to tell me there was a problem with 2013 pearl white Rogue paint jobs. I later had some repairs done from a minor fender bender and the shop told me there was a recall on the paint job, however since I then had > 32K miles, it was not covered by Nissan.
Now I have paint chipping on the drivers door. I will contact Nissan and complain since this is an issue with the original paint job. My repair shop mentioned it was a problem with the primer so the paint chips all the way to bare metal.
I can't believe Nissan will not stand up and take responsibility for their error. This is totally unsatisfactory and a disgrace to their name.

My rant is the same as all the others before me. Obviously the craftsmanship on the Nissan Rogue's with the pearl white paint is an issue. Ironically, it seems to happen just after the warranty expires. It surprises me that an organization like Nissan hasn't taken the proper steps to remedy this issue and issue a recall for all the cars affected. I guess they think that their reputation won't be tarnished by a few people with complaints. However, I will change that. I have a big enough mouth and enough DRIVE to ensure that proper results are achieved not just for myself, but everyone involved. Nissan should know better than to upset people and NOT resolve this issue. Word of mouth advertising is the most powerful (or destructive) marketing tool a company can have. I strongly suggest they reconsider their position........
Update from Jun 27, 2017: Update: Like many others, Nissan's Consumer Affairs division has stated they will not repair the damage because the warranty is expired and I didn't own the car when the warranty was valid. Such BS. They've clearly been contacted enough time about this issue ALONE to know this is an ongoing problem. As of today, I have filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and sent emails to the heads of Nissan for a resolution. If I don't have a resolution in one month, I will not only trade in this Nissan, but the other one I own as well and buy a different brand. I have been Nissan loyal for 30+ years and never had any problems. This problem, however, will ensure that I never purchase this brand of car again. If they won't stand behind their cars, then I will contribute to their financial losses instead of their financial gains. Also, Niecy at Consumer Affairs is a complete bitch! I hope she gets stranded in her car somewhere and is never found........

We have been buying Nissan cars for 30 years-never a problem! Two years ago, as my husbands health deteriated we had to get a car that he could get into easier-thence the 2013 Rogue with 33,000 miles in a pearl color-the car we planned to be our last one since we are past 75. We loved our car and Nissan vehicles until February of this year when I noticed a small spot on the back passenger door. As the days passed it became larger so I went to two body shops and they told me it was manufacturer paint and advised me to take it to the dealer (Mountain View Nissan). I did and they made photos and sent to the company and told me I would hear from them in three or four days.
Two weeks later I called to see what the hold up was and the guy I had originally worked with said they had not heard but he would call right then and find out. Late that day a man called me and said he was with Nissan and what could he do for me. (He did not even know what I wanted and had no idea what I had called for. I explained and he said that my car's warranty ran out at 36,000 miles. DUH, I already knew that! And there was nothing they could do for me! Now, I am sitting here with a car that every day I find new spots chipping.
I am at a loss and am terribly disappointed in a company that I thought I could depend on. I have no one to help me solve this problem and since Nissan refuses to help, rest assured I will let everyone that I come in contact with not to depend on Nissan!!! Ugh, maybe Chevrolets are looking better and better!!

Paint peeling off pearl white Nissan Rogue. Internet full of similar complaints. Not my first rodeo. Clearly defective paint which Nissan should fix, but obviously won't per deluge of complaints about the same problem on internet, along with weak bs excuses. 12 year old Acura (also white) in same environment with no paint problems, so don't try "environmental". No more Nissans for me or anyone I know, since company does not stand behind their product.

Ladies and gentlemen... looks like there is definitely a problem with 2013 Nissan Rogue pearl white. I've had the exact same issue with my paint chipping. Corporate also told me it was a warranty issue. I was told by a local body shop that worked with Daytona Nissan (where I bought the car), that it was likely a manufacturer error and they over baked the primer. After fighting and fighting Nissan corporate, they finally painted the two was peeling. I posed the problem- this will start happening to the rest of the car, but they would only paint the 2 panels. Well, just as we suspected, more paint is now chipping on the driver- side door. Any ideas what can be done? Any lawyers in this group?

I am having an extremely disturbing issue with my 2013 Nissan Rogue purchased brand new since May of 2016. Paint is falling off my car in chunks. This is original factory paint job. Nissan motor corps response. They will not assist in repairing this defective paint job. They cite environmental causes? There has never been any damage to these sections of my car. One service manager said it's clear the paint is not properly adhered to the vehicle. I am stuck with my dream car looking horrendous and my $28,000+ vehicle needing a full car paint job at MY expense. I have been a Nissan customer for almost 30 years. They could care less to lose a customer. There is no way this car was painted properly. Their reply was basically too bad, so sad. There are more pictures. Paint is falling off rear door. Rear quarter panel. Above windshield. I have more pictures if needed. Can you please help me.
I've reached out to Nissan Motor Corp. They have denied to make this right.
They cite two repairs to bumper (fender benders). I visiting both repair shops and obtained both repair bills. None of them touched the top of my car or my quarter or doors all of which have peeling paint. As a matter of fact the only parts that are NOT peeling are the parts that were in fact repainted by these body shops. I've stood in tears on multiple occasions as Everyone agrees this is a defect but somehow it's my responsibility.

Isnt it interesting all of these white pearl car with paint falling off???

I currently own a Nissan Titan, Pathfinder and the Rogue. If Nissan elects to turn a blind eye to this paint problem I will trade all the vehicles and purchase Toyota or other brands and encourage everyone to NOT purchase Nissan vehicles

Purchased this car with only 15K miles and 6 months left on the warranty. The paint began to chip in April. In the mean time, I moved to PA and contacted a dealer who had his Nissan Certified Paint/body shop look at the paint. They said it was a paint problem and that it had never been repainted. Had a problem with the service manager not returning calls and ultimately went to another dealer. They had their non-certified paint/body man look at the car and he thought it had been repainted. Contacted Nissan North America and opened a case with a regional rep looking into the case. It was determined to be non-warrantable. That is very interesting since the doors on both sides are doing the same thing. In mentioning this to a friend, he knew someone who had had the same problem with the same car, same color, both manufactured in Japan about three weeks apart from one another. They completely stripped and repainted his car this past June under warranty. I am extremely upset. If Nissan continues to deny it's responsibility, I will never purchase another Nissan nor will I stop my campaign to insure that all my friends hear about this and pass it along. It's bad business and we wonder why so many people look at large corporations and wonder why they treat their customers like ! Thanks for nothing Nissan!

2013 Nissan Rogue SV AWD- 16,000 miles - garage kept.. paint started flaking off last week between the windshield and sunroof- looks like poor spot welds that started to rust- This should be a warranty item but cannot get an answer from Nissan. I have 15 year old car's with perfect paint... Anyone have a contact at Nissan that can help?
- Keith A., Tampa, FL, US
I am an owner of 2013 Nissan Rogue SV. During the past couple of months, the paint of my vehicle has been peeling off. This is occurring all around the vehicle. I contacted the Nissan Corporation regarding this issue. I was informed by them, that since my vehicle is past the warranty date, there is nothing that they the can do to assist me. This vehicle is only three years old, and the paint is cracking and peeling off all around it. I have to question this craftsmanship, on behalf of the Nissan Corporation. Prior to this vehicle, I had a 2002 Ford F-150 XL for ten years. During the time that I owned my F-150, the paint never peeled or cracked off the vehicle. I am disappointed at the craftsmanship of my Nissan Rogue, and I am also disappointed at the service, that I received from the Nissan Corporation.

Have the exact same issue on my wife's 2013 Rogue. Small paint chip by the rear right door handle went from the size of thumb tack to about the diameter of a tennis ball in a month. Clearly a defective paint job. Dealer took pictures and notified Nissan.
They covered painting the whole right side of the vehicle (about $1500). This was last fall when the odometer had about 30k miles. Now with nearly 36k miles and 3 months left on the lease there is paint peeling on the hood, and a row of about 15 paint chips on the roof where the roof line meets the rubber seal of the windshield. Brought it to the dealer, took pictures but this time Nissan rep blamed rocks for the peeling paint. WTF! This is absolutely impossible and is simply a canned reply to shut someone up. Might as well have told me the neighborhood kids did it.
I have purchased and leased 3 new Nissans in the past 4 years and this experience has really turned me away from this brand. Quality is extremely poor and I am not just talking about the paint .

We bought this 2013 Nissan Rouge last year june and it had one chip of paint off the rear door by the window.
Since then there's a big spot on the hood big as a basket ball and you can watch it peel off wile we go down the highway. Also there's a spot on the roof an rear quater and drivers door. All continue to grow. I took it to Nissan
and they looked at it and said the paint has a 35000 mile warranty, at that time the car had 53000 miles. But was only 2 years old. The manager gave me a price for the repairs, 1500.oo . And said he would talk to the factory rep. But never heard from them.
Update from Nov 15, 2016: As of 11/16 a year after I brought it to the Nissan dealer a 1/3 of the paint is missing from the car. I went to Nissan comsumer affairs an they said they won't do anything about it.
- David L., Jacksonville, FL, US
My 2013 Nissan Rogue has paint chips all over the hood and roof. The problem started at around 15,000 miles. It is quite easy to miss at first because it starts chipping in very small areas along the rubber on the windshield. It has continued to chip to the point that it now has a fairly large patch on the roof which is rusting. The car also has several chips along the hood.
I have contacted two Nissan dealers who tell me it is caused by stones hitting the car. This makes no sense to me since the chips are still continuing to appear on my car. I think it is caused by inferior paint and should be covered by the manufacturer. I have also contacted Nissan and have yet to hear back from them.

I recently discovered several paint chips on the roof of my 2013 Nissan Rogue, and one good size paint chip on the hood. I took it to the dealer and they told me it looked like rock damage and it was not covered under warranty. I didn't drive through a rock storm that would do that damage, I would remember if several rocks hit my car. I had several people look at it and told me they are trying to insult my intelligence, that looked like faulty paint. We had a hail storm a few years ago where it did so much damage we had to have our roof completely redone, but either our Honda CRV or Subaru Forester that we owned at the time, sitting in the drive way did not have one ding or show any damage. The dealer offered to touch it up but I would have to pay for the paint. That is not good enough for me. After doing further research online there are numerous complaints about the paint quality on Nissans. It is a shame, I love my car otherwise. So now I am in the process of taking it to other body shops to see what they tell me before I allow the dealer to "touch it up".
