I have not had it checked by a certified mechanic, however I have a witness who drove my vehicle for 2 days experienced the same problem more than once. After driving the vehicle for a while, let's say 30 minutes, when I try to accelerate from a stopped position, when pressing on the gas pedal, it does not go. It doesn't stall, it just won't go as normal. I keep pumping the gas pedal and eventually it will go, and sometimes lurches forward. It is unsafe.

I drive a 2017 Nissan Rogue that has just under 65K miles on it as of today. Without a prior indication of a problem from the car's warning system, I suddenly began losing transmission power and experiencing significant engine hesitation while driving yesterday, August 23, 2021. Specifically, the car would hesitate at least 3 seconds and sometimes as long as 8 seconds before engaging, thus putting me in great danger in traffic and on public roads. Additionally, the engine would begin revving up from 1 to 4+ rpms while simply trying to maintain a speed of 40 mph. This caused me to constantly have to remove my foot entirely from the accelerator, further putting me in harm's way while in traffic on both residential and highway roads. I lost control of my vehicle. I immediately proceeded home as carefully as I could manage, stored the vehicle overnight in the garage, and took it to the dealership first thing in the morning. To my great surprise and disappointment, the Nissan adviser informed me that the diagnostic codes received were P0776 and P1715, both of which were addressed in previous Nissan Service Bulletins in both 2018 and 2021. Furthermore, these codes indicate specific issues with the CVT - something that has plagued Nissan for years and continues to be the center of many lawsuits and causes for extended warranty programs. In fact, I experienced CVT transmission failure in a 2015 Nissan Rogue that I owned previous to this one. My sister also experienced the same safety hazard in her Nissan Rogue. This is an ongoing and hugely unsafe problem. Currently, my vehicle is at the dealership, awaiting response from Nissan Corporation as to whether they will replace/fix at no cost, considering the blatant CVT issues and the fact that my powertrain warranty expired less than 5k miles ago and that several other models with the exact same issue have been granted extended warranties, etc. This should be at no expense to me. I had my car inspected last month by Nissan!

This vehicle was purchased at a Carmax dealership in October of 2020. During the test drive it was observed that when accelerating and slowing, the car would jolt back and forth. The dealer told us that was "just how hybrids drive". It has since been inspected by an EV certified mechanic and the jolting was actually due to a failing transmission. We purchased the car and continued to drive this dangerous vehicle for 9 months.

My 2017 Nissan Rogue has been jerking, lurching, and there are times when the accelerator is depressed but the car does not accelerate at all It is extremely dangerous. Nissan has confirmed that the CVT has failed. This seems to be an ongoing issue with many of their vehicles and it doesn-??t not feel like adequate action is being taken to remedy this.

I began to notice issues with my 2017 Nissan Rogue as I was driving down the road and all of a sudden, the car seemed to have lost power and wouldn't accelerate. I took it to my local garage, where I was told the CVT transmission went out and needed replaced. He recommended I speak to Nissan to see if they would help pay for the repair, since it's a common problem, less than 4 years old and only 72,000 miles. Nissan recommended I take it to the nearest dealership so they could diagnose it, then possibly help pay with the goodwill assistance program. I called the dealership and also sent a request for a call back online. I never received a call back. I contacted Nissan's Consumer Affairs department, who said they would contact the dealership. It took the dealership about a week to return my call. When they did, they scheduled an appointment for the following Tuesday. I had the car towed Monday evening and when I hadn't heard back by the end of the week, I called and left a message. They finally called back a week later and said the tests they ran come back to a failed CVT transmission. At that point, Nissan could finally review my case to hopefully offer assistance. Another week later, I received a call that they would not help with the repairs, towing fees or rental car fees. I have had to rent a car for 5 weeks now, because of them dragging their feet. So now I will be out $129 for the diagnostic test, when we already knew the problem, approximately $2,000 for the rental car and over $4,000 for a new transmission. I also would have to pay $5 per mile over 3 miles at 22 miles, so another $95 for towing back to the original garage.

Driving out of a stopped position - after being stopped at a red light on an inclined hill - the car felt like it was stuck in the neutral position even though it was in drive. I pulled over to the side of the road, shifted the gear from drive to park and back to drive, drove back into traffic, and the car again felt like the transmission was in the neutral driving position. I pulled over a second time, put the car in park, turned the car off and then back on, put the car into drive, and the transmission shifted smoothly between gears.

The contact owns a 2017 Nissan Rogue. The contact stated while driving approximately 77 mph, the vehicle started to decelerate. The contact stated that the vehicle failed to accelerate above 30 mph. The contact pulled over and the vehicle stalled without warning. The vehicle was towed to a certified mechanic who was unable to identify the cause of the failure. The vehicle was then transferred to the dealer but was not diagnosed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 67,000.

The problem that occurred, was driving on the highway and the cvt transmission slips slowing my car down in front of a big truck while my kids are in the there. That is not safe at all, so I take it to a shop who tells me it needs new transmission. Gets new transmission put in there and not even a good two weeks later it is doing it again. So I go and research and see that this is a big issue and Nissan has not did a recall on it yet. What are they waiting on, to harm a whole family. They need to get their stuff together.

Rogue

  • 64,994 miles
Hello, I brought my 2017 Nissan Rogue in May 2020. Here I am not even a full year later with 64000 miles on the vehicle and the dealer is telling me that I need to replace the transmission (cvt). I brought my vehicle in because my check engine light came on and the vehicle was jerking back and forth upon acceleration. The extended warranty that I purchased expired at 60,000 miles or 24mths which ever came first (which I should not have even paid for at this point). I noticed that several hundreds of Nissan customers with the same year Rogue are having the same exact issue with their cvt. Nissan has placed a bulletin out on their 2016 models but not on 2017. I am hoping that Nissan can assist with the repairs (cost$4400) that are unjust. I have contacted Nissan consumer complaints office and they just sent an email stating they could help.
