I began to notice issues with my 2017 Nissan Rogue as I was driving down the road and all of a sudden, the car seemed to have lost power and wouldn't accelerate. I took it to my local garage, where I was told the CVT transmission went out and needed replaced. He recommended I speak to Nissan to see if they would help pay for the repair, since it's a common problem, less than 4 years old and only 72,000 miles. Nissan recommended I take it to the nearest dealership so they could diagnose it, then possibly help pay with the goodwill assistance program. I called the dealership and also sent a request for a call back online. I never received a call back. I contacted Nissan's Consumer Affairs department, who said they would contact the dealership. It took the dealership about a week to return my call. When they did, they scheduled an appointment for the following Tuesday. I had the car towed Monday evening and when I hadn't heard back by the end of the week, I called and left a message. They finally called back a week later and said the tests they ran come back to a failed CVT transmission. At that point, Nissan could finally review my case to hopefully offer assistance. Another week later, I received a call that they would not help with the repairs, towing fees or rental car fees. I have had to rent a car for 5 weeks now, because of them dragging their feet. So now I will be out $129 for the diagnostic test, when we already knew the problem, approximately $2,000 for the rental car and over $4,000 for a new transmission. I also would have to pay $5 per mile over 3 miles at 22 miles, so another $95 for towing back to the original garage.

Driving out of a stopped position - after being stopped at a red light on an inclined hill - the car felt like it was stuck in the neutral position even though it was in drive. I pulled over to the side of the road, shifted the gear from drive to park and back to drive, drove back into traffic, and the car again felt like the transmission was in the neutral driving position. I pulled over a second time, put the car in park, turned the car off and then back on, put the car into drive, and the transmission shifted smoothly between gears.

The contact owns a 2017 Nissan Rogue. The contact stated while driving approximately 77 mph, the vehicle started to decelerate. The contact stated that the vehicle failed to accelerate above 30 mph. The contact pulled over and the vehicle stalled without warning. The vehicle was towed to a certified mechanic who was unable to identify the cause of the failure. The vehicle was then transferred to the dealer but was not diagnosed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 67,000.

The problem that occurred, was driving on the highway and the cvt transmission slips slowing my car down in front of a big truck while my kids are in the there. That is not safe at all, so I take it to a shop who tells me it needs new transmission. Gets new transmission put in there and not even a good two weeks later it is doing it again. So I go and research and see that this is a big issue and Nissan has not did a recall on it yet. What are they waiting on, to harm a whole family. They need to get their stuff together.

Hello, I brought my 2017 Nissan Rogue in May 2020. Here I am not even a full year later with 64000 miles on the vehicle and the dealer is telling me that I need to replace the transmission (cvt). I brought my vehicle in because my check engine light came on and the vehicle was jerking back and forth upon acceleration. The extended warranty that I purchased expired at 60,000 miles or 24mths which ever came first (which I should not have even paid for at this point). I noticed that several hundreds of Nissan customers with the same year Rogue are having the same exact issue with their cvt. Nissan has placed a bulletin out on their 2016 models but not on 2017. I am hoping that Nissan can assist with the repairs (cost$4400) that are unjust. I have contacted Nissan consumer complaints office and they just sent an email stating they could help.

1. my forward collision warning goes in and out of service several times per month. 2. the cvt quit working at 78,000 miles. I was driving on I-70 between denver, co and the eisenhower tunnel when suddenly the rpms kicked up and the speed dropped. I don't know what gear I was in but I could only drive 40 mph at 3500 -4500 rpms. There was a burning smell as well. The transmission seemed to reset when vehicle was turned off and then restarted and seemed to function properly. However, when taken for a test drive, the burning smell occurred again when climbing a hill and seemed to dissipate when traveling down hill and transmission is not functioning properly.

Rogue

While traveling down the road my car suddenly stopped going over 3,000 rpms which in turn made the car suddenly slow down to an excessively low rate of speed, during rush hour on a busy road. I was almost rear ended with my children in the back seat. I was able to eventually get the car off the road. The dealership advised that this is a common concern with Nissan and that it was something called a cvt transmission system that had failed suddenly while driving. I don't understand how this can be a common problem for someone to be driving and run the risk of wrecking because the car fails to keep moving properly.

The cvt transmission in these vehicles are horrible and a huge safety hazard. The first time I noticed the violent shaking of my rear seats I was on the highways doing 50 mph the seats where empty and I assumed I needed a alignment although my tires where new. However it has only gotten worse even with my children who are both over 100lbs sitting in the car! between the violent shaking and jerking and also the hesitant when accelerating especially on a hill it's going to cause an accident possibly a fatality. I have reached out to Nissan to be told 'I'm sorry you are out of warranty'.

My Nissan Rogue has less than 60,000 miles and was bought brand new in 2017. The past couple of months the transmission has started to fail. It jerks and has trouble accelerating like if the gear is stuck. My check engine turned on and had a code P0776 its the powertrain control module failure. I was driving the car normal on the freeway and had to stop on the side of the road and turned the car off and waited for a couple of minutes and drove back home and it was better but the check engine was on.the next day it happened again still need to make an appointment to take to dealer but I dont drive it as much now until it get checked at the dealer. I have read about Nissan cvt transmission are defective from factory from some articles inhave read.

I bought my 2017 Nissan Rogue sv with 4 miles on it. On July 12, 2020 at 11:30 pm my car's transmission went out. I lost complete power on the busy kennedy expressway outside of Chicago while driving with 3 friends in the car. The car began to chug and the rpms were between 3 and 4. I was unable to accelerate and eventually the car slowed to a stop on the shoulder. If this had been rush hour, we could have been seriously hurt. Nissan says because my car is at 72,000 of my 60,000 warranty they will only pay for 50%. Nissan told me they recommended rebuilding the kit instead of replacing the whole transmission because it was more cost effective for them. I spoke with Nissan Consumer Affairs, who made me wait 4 days while they "escalated" it only to come back and say they only can approve 50% of the costs. I have done all necessary maintenance to vehicle and this is the only problem I have had. Too bad its a huge problem. If you google cvt you will see that the "experimental" transmission has failed in most Rogues leading up to and including the 2016. Nissan says there is no recall or extended warranty for the the 2017 (yet). This is unacceptable.

Stopped on 95 N to pay toll. When exiting toll booth, the car would not accelerate to normal highway speed causing cars to almost run into the back of the car. Was only able to travel a few miles before the car would not go anymore. There is power to the vehicle, but the engine won't engage. Had to have vehicle towed 40 miles to my destination. It is still not operational.

My 2017 Nissan Rogue is still under factory warrant and I purchased an extended warranty. On 9/30/2019 my Nissan Rogue was missing and stalling so I took it to my mechanic (alpine automotive Inc., 5495 w. Mississippi ave. Lakewood, co 80226. A diagnostic was run on this vehicle producing code P1715 input speed sensor primary speed PO776 oil press solenoid B. found service bulletin ntb16-11ol that indicated the vehicle needs a valve body and reprogram. Unfortunately this mechanic deleted the codes and this has hindered getting my transmission fixed under warranty because Nissan will not work on my vehicle until they get a code from their diagnostics. This is putting me in harms way because I operating this vehicle which is defective, stalls at stop lights and will not accelerate unless I floor board the accelerator. I have called Nissan headquarters and they will not return my phone calls, even though I have opened up a case with them. As this vehicle deteriorates, I am going to be in danger driving this vehicle. Can you please intervene and help. My complaint is not against alpine auto, but Nissan headquarters as they will not allow the repairs to the transmission because they cannot see the codes when they do a diagnostic. There is documentation that these codes indicate a repair is needed and Nissan is allowing me to drive a defective vehicle and putting me in harms way. I am attaching the invoice from alpine automotive Inc. Which clearly indicates the codes found. My vehicle is in my garage.
