During a recent trip I noticed a "fluttering/rattling" noise coming from the top of the windshield of our 2021 Nissan Rogue Platinum. The noise was very noticeable at interstate highway speed and on rougher road surfaces. While looking for the source of noise I found staining on the driver side headliner and interior front pillar garnish. Took Rogue to dealer and was told that the seal for the attachment clips for the roof rack were leaking into the interior. Leakage had damaged headliner and gotten into the airbag. The roof racks would have to be removed and sealed and the entire headliner, front pillar garnish, and the airbag replaced. The total repair would cost approximately $4,000. Since the Rogue was 45 months old with 20,500 miles it was out of warranty due to its age. The dealer told me that I would be responsible for the cost to repair it since it was out of warranty. I contacted Nissan Consumer Affairs to see if they would cover the cost since the leak was caused by a design and/or manufacturing defect. Nissan agreed to pay 90% of the repair but I would be responsible for the remaining 10% (approximately $400). I told them this was unacceptable and that Nissan should be responsible for the entire cost of the repair. Nissan has refused my requests to cover the full cost of repair. An internet search revealed that Nissan was aware of the defect and had issued a Service Bulletin (NTB21-097, dated 10/20/21), which was a few months before we purchased the vehicle. Since the leak can allow water to damage the airbag it is a serious safety issue. The airbag may not deploy properly during an accident or could suddenly deploy for no reason and cause a crash. Nissan should take full responsibility and pay the full amount for the repair since it is a known design and/or manufacturing defect. Nissan should issue a recall for affected vehicles.

I was in an accident with front and rear collision and damage and my airbags never deployed. I hydroplaned into the guardrail and hit the front of the vehicle completely and then was rear-ended with massive damage after I hit the guardrail.

Hi Team, I own a certified 2021 Nissan and am currently experiencing a water leak at the top front corners of the windshield. The vehicle has already been inspected for potential windshield defects and clogged drains, but no issues were identified. Upon further research, I came across Technical Bulletin NTB21-097B, which describes a similar issue occurring in many 2021-manufactured vehicles. Although my vehicle's VIN does not currently show any active recalls related to this bulletin, the symptoms are consistent. This leak is also affecting the driver and passenger side airbags, which poses a significant safety risk in the event of an accident. Given the circumstances, I kindly request that you review this case for coverage under the scope of the bulletin and advise me on the next steps. Thank you for your attention and assistance. I brought my 2021 Nissan Rogue in for service at Jenkins Nissan in Lakeland, FL for a oil change and tire rotation and we have had a light on our dash board indicating a airbag error and they charged us to look that up and said it is an airbag module or sensor that is causing the error message on the dashboard as the paper work said it is a Sensor-Side Airbag Center causing that and said it would cost around $1460 to repair that. I looked up recalls on my Rogue and it listed an Airbag issue on some of the 2021 Nissan Rogue models but did not list mine specifically. I feel this should either be covered by my warranty or the recall they are having with the airbag issue.

Roof rails are leaking onto A pillar curtain air bags and causing headliner to become saturated above the A pillers on both sides of the car. Water is also getting onto electrical lighting in vanity mirrors. Found a TSB on this, but also found there is a massive problem with this and it should be a recall. Multiple people who own rogues from this year are having this issue. Water could cause damage to airbags, mold in headliner, and electrical issues with upper roof controls and lighting. Made appointment with shop and will present the TSB when I get there.

On September 1, 2023, I was headed north on I-95 in North Carolina. I was involved in a 3 car pileup where the Automatic Emergency Braking and Forward Collision Warning on my 2021 Nissan Rogue failed to activate. My vehicle had ADAS but almost killed my mother and me since they did not work. The car was totaled and the State Trooper wrongfully cited me for failure to reduce speed even though my foot was firmly on the brakes. The airbags were severed during impact and failed to deploy.

Car and driver reported early builds pre January 28th 2021 from the Japan plant recorded a 2 star safety rating on the passenger small overlap test. Nissan updated retrofitted the passenger airbag module software and seatbelt and was supposed to start a campaign to notify owners to have this done and we were never notified and Nissan is no help when you call and provide VIN. They only tell me no recalls on this VIN. Please note the assembly line builds were provided the retrofit after Jan28th 2021 in Japan builds and Smyrna Tenn builds were already updated before the first build came off the line. My wife's truck and this VIN qualifies with a build date of November 2020 from Japan's factory. Very concerned of the safety of any passenger in our truck and Nissan is dragging their feet and not taking this seriously I feel due to expense. Not sure how many are affected but they need a severe push to remedy this issue. Please help us and God bless you for having this forum. We purchased this Feb 2021 and its been long enough for Nissan to do the right thing for public safety for our family. Thank you. The contact owns a 2021 Nissan Rogue. The contact stated that while deriving approximately 20 mph when there was another vehicle coming towards the contacts vehicle head on. In order to avoid the other vehicle, the contact had swerved to the right and ended up colliding into a guard rail causing the vehicle to flip over several times. None of the vehicle's air bags deployed. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed. The guard rail had completely detached from the street. The contact received injuries to their mouth and back that required medical attention. The vehicle had not been repaired as of yet. The contact stated the individual driving the other vehicle never stopped therefore they were unsure of them having any injuries. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 8,000.

We bought our 2021Nissan Rogue SE from Fuccillo Nissan of Clearwater, 15232 US-19, Clearwater, FL, (727-507-3200) on May 5, 2021.Our Rogue had 400+ miles on the odometer at the time we received. On June 7, 2021 the air bag dash light came on. An appointment was made for service of the airbags on June 10, 2021. At the time of pick up the airbag dash light was off. It turned back on June 14, 2021. In a call to Fuccillo Service Department the service tech informed us that because the airbag dash light was on the airbags were disabled. We had a major trip planned to attend a wedding in PA that we were driving to. Since the airbags were disabled driving our Rogue on a 3000+ mile trip would not be safe. We were put in a position of renting a vehicle for our trip. On June 15, 2021 we left our Rogue at Fuccillo Nissan of Clearwater for repair of this safety issue. Today is July 14, 2021 and our Rogue is still at the dealership waiting for the arrival of a seat belt clip which may fix the airbag issue. We have started a claim Case# 44081404 with Nissan Consumer Assistance requesting replacement of Rogue with a new 2021 Nissan Rogue comparably equipped as the new 2021 Nissan Rogue we purchased on May 5, 2021.
