Rogue SV 1.5L Turbo

  • CVT transmission
  • 825 miles

With only 825 miles, the new 1.5 turbo has developed what I would call a "whirring" noise upon accelerating above say 35 mph. It's not that loud but is noticeable with the radio on. The noise has a slightly different tone upon decelerating. I've tried turning the HVAC completely off, thinking it might be coming from the AC compressor, but the noise is still there. I think it might have something to do with the turbo, as it did not make the noise at all for 3 months until one day I had to kick the turbo in. The car is driving just fine so I'll just monitor it so I can make an accurate report to the dealership in a couple of weeks. Hoping someone with exact same "whirring" sounds can comment on their 2022 Rogue.

Update from Jul 2, 2022: I've read online that my 22 Rogue's CVT is different than the 21 in that it has a "metal drive belt" now? Perhaps the "whirring" noise I'm hearing is from that belt... rather than the turbo acting up. I'll continue to monitor the situation. I wonder if anyone else with a 22 has found that they had a noise with the belt drive?

Update from Aug 17, 2022: So now I have 1500 miles on my "22, the "whirring" sound is still very prevalent, took it to the dealer and a service writer was able to hear it, then we took out a new Rogue and within seconds, we both heard the same "whirr" but not as loud, so this strange whirr must be inherent to this new setup with the 1.5 turbo coupled with the tweaked CVT. I am not at all happy to have to hear it all the time and so now I am not happy with my '22 Rogue. I was hoping to hear from someone else who has had some sort of "fix" for the very same whirring noise, that would be great to hear from you!
