When I went to refill my windshield washer fluid it came pouring out of the car. I looked under the car to see if a hose had become undone, but I could not really see up into the unit as the entire bottom is covered with a shield. I could not see down into it, but could fit my hand around. I couldn't feel any issues with the unit so I took it to the dealer to be looked at. They stated that a rock had flown up into the unit and cracked it. When I questioned how a rock would be able to get up in there since it has a shield, they stated that they have seen 6 or 7 of these this winter and it seems due to the design, the fluid is freezing and subsequently cracking. They then said that Nissan would not cover it under warranty.
When I stated that it sounded like a design problem and not a me problem, they agreed but still said Nissan would not pay.
