Sentra

Ever since I've owned my 2000 Nissan Sentra (owner since April 2003), I've noticed that the car hesitates when the accelerator pedal is pressed. This causes me to press on the gas harder making my car lurch forward. This morning I rear ended someone and while the nature of the collision is my fault, I believe there would be far less damage to my car had it not hesitated due to the accelerator pedal getting stuck. My sister also owns a Nissan Sentra (2001 year) since July 2003 and she has experienced the same problem with her car hesitating because the accelerator pedal gets stuck. I looked on the internet and there are several other people who have noticed that their accelerator pedal gets stuck as well. consumeraffairs.com/automotive/nissan_sentra.html I called Nissan and they said that it's because I have an automatic transmission. However, this is not an acceptable justification. Just because my car is an automatic, does not mean it's okay to have a stuck accelerator on my car.

Sentra

The accelerator pedal sticks. As a result when taking off after a stop, the consumer had to apply more pressure to the pedal. The part has been replaced three times. However problem still exists. (throttle plate stuck) the problem never seemed to be corrected. The consumer would have to forcibly press down on the gas pedal, after putting the vehicle into first gear, from reverse. The seat belt did not retract and the gas pedal felt as if it were binding.

Consumer believed some of the burden of cost for replacing the mass airflow sensor should be borne by Nissan. The accelerator pedal would stick. The dealer claimed to have fixed the problem but it still occurred. The consumer was also told that the mass airflow sensor was going bad and would need to be replaced. The technician informed the consumer that nothing could be done. The vehicle made a chirping sound since the vehicle was first purchased.

Accelerator pedal sticks. To get the car moving we have to push the pedal hard which causes a faster than normal acceleration.
