Sentra S 1.8L V4

  • Automatic transmission
  • 150,000 miles

Driving home from work went to break for a red light and I felt a knock in the transmission. Engine warning light turns on, vehicle refuses to accelerator change gear. I proceed to pull off the road, remove the keys from the ignition, attempt to start the car and no power.

Eventually after a couple tries playing with the car sensor, I can start the car, then there's noticeable struggle with changing gears and shaking occurs when driving. I'm able to get the car to a shop where they notify me that it could be a sensor problem or something worse.

Luckily it was just a sensor for now. This was a few months ago and most of the costs went into the labor. I think they charged me for 2 hours worth plus parts - it was like $200 something bucks, I believe.

Problems that are known problems should have been recalled and fixed. After spending over $4000 to fix, I now have discovered the oil cooler line is leaking.

When the transmission is cold, shifting is slow between speed 1 and speed 2. When the transmission becomes hot, this problem disappears.
