In 2011 there had been a recall to address rust issues on the Nissan name plate on the trunk. I took my car in for the repaint repair.

In 2014 I noticed rust around the chrome handle where the handle meets the paint on the trunk. I was told by Nissan dealership that since the 3 year warranty had just run out, they could not fix it. I was told to get a quote from an autobody shop to repair it. This would have cost me $795.55 Canadian. I went back to Nissan dealer and because it was so soon to the warranty running out, his company did repair it for me at no charge. I was very pleased.

Now in 2016, I noticed that once again there is creeping rust around the chrome handle on the trunk. I was told by both the Nissan dealership and Nissan Canada that they can do nothing for me since the warranty has long since run out.

The dealership did tell me that what was probably needed was a space bar between the chrome and the paint to avoid the rust from occurring, but to date, no part has been manufactured for this particular car.

What really upsets me is that I take exceptionally good care of my car. It is always kept in the garage and washed regularly, particularly in the winter to remove salt. There is no other rust on the car, except for on the trunk near the handle.

Are there other Nissan Sentras out there with this same problem?
