I bought this car brand new for 19,200.00 in mid year 2011, Its a SR model with all the bells and whistles. I am a 2nd time owner of the Nissan Sentra, my last a 2006 bought new and I loved it. The new 2011 Sentra from about 3,000.00 has had this low pitch clunking noise sounds like from the Transmission or rear end (front wheel drive) heard from a stop upon take off. Sounds like an "Old Beater" that needs a transmission. It also has a tapping in the motor like the valves need to be adjusted. You can clearly hear this when driving near to a building with the windows open. My complaints to the dealer were responded with "there's no fix from Nissan yet for this problem".
After continued complaints to the dealer I finally was able to speak with one of the mechanics who told me and I quote...."If you go test drive most of the Nissans on the lot and listen very close, you will hear the same noises. He had mentioned to Nissan upon hearing it for himself the first time and had to record it to play for them and they still don't have a fix or will admit to the problem. Its embarrassing when you drive with anyone in the car and any one who mentions purchasing any Nissan product I gladly take them for a drive in mine and tell them the story of the Mechanic above and it always send them in another purchase direction.
I have been patiently waiting for a "Fix" from Nissan to come and it still has not nor will they even admit to a problem. Please imagine yourself spending anywhere from 17,500.00 to 32,000.00 for a new vehicle and being embarrassed to have someone drive with you and the constant daily reminder while driving that you bought a "Lemon". I never thought I would say this about Nissan but...My advice, try a another car company if you are in the market for a car or truck.
