Sentra

  • Automatic transmission
  • 99,500 miles

A few months I took my car to a mechanic for another issue, an air flow sensor, and at that time the transmission started making clunking and hesitations, but the mechanic thought it was the air flow issue. Now in the last week, I started hearing noises like something is loose along with the other issues and took it to a new automotive repair shop. After driving the car, the mechanic told me it is most likely the transmission at which time I got sick to my stomach. Never in my wildest dreams did I think I had purchased a lemon car. I had no idea that these Nissans have had transmission issues and Nissan has failed to be accountable for them. The repair service also happens to be a transmission shop and they see transmissions failures all the time in Sentras and Versas. This is totally unconscionable and I will hold Nissan accountable for any repair that is necessary. And then to find out there is now a class action lawsuit pending settlement...WOW.

Nissan, no one should buy any of your cars until you come clean... Everyone should protest against this criminal behavior, especially since it has been going on for so long... SHAME ON YOU NISSAN, a BUNCH OF CROOKS, PREYING ON INNOCENT CONSUMERS AND FAILING TO PROVIDE A DECENT PRODUCT THAT IS EXPENSIVE FOR WHAT IT IS A PIECE OF ABSOLUTE GARBAGE!!! I won't let up until I get restitution after the official diagnosis... I become a bulldog!!!!

Update from Mar 12, 2020: I filed an objection to the settlement contents by the deadline, because my car had 99,500 miles when the transmission totally failed, but the court had come to some stupid mileage (probably got bought off by Nissan) maximum of 84,000 for the extended powertrain warranty. My car actually started seeing symptoms at under 70,000 miles, but I didn't know at the time it was the transmission as I found out later from doing all the research as to all the symptoms. Now how can they surmise to the mileage totals when some have failed at 70,000, some have failed at 100,000 and some even at 120,000. FACT...none of them should fail at these mileages. Well, I received the decisions and the damn court denied all objections! Furthermore from the total number of people in the class action lawsuit and the extremely low number of objections filed, one would presume that so many Nissan owners didn't even know of this lawsuit as I did not and never got anything in the mail. Furthermore none of the over 2 million have ever received any recall notices as many car manufacturers would normally do in a serious defect such as this. I will be sending a very nasty response to the court and in the process of contacting the national news to do an investigative report and also numerous newspapers to publish my op-ed on this criminal action both by the court and Nissan. It has left me with no wheel and crippled my small business.

Update from Jun 22, 2020: As of today, June 22, 2020, I have still not been able to have my 2015 Nissan Sentra fixed, because it is too expensive and the sickening class action lawsuit that was settled only satisfied the pockets of the law firms that handled this lawsuit...very, very tragic that these class action lawsuits do not serve the consumers who need to have restitution from these crooked car manufacturers. I challenged the court on their sickening decision and it was denied...our whole justice system is in the abyss today, and we, the car owners, are left out in the cold with nowhere. So I am attempting to get the national news media involved if they can break away from all the other crises going on today in this country...too much...

Update from Aug 6, 2020: Nissan is one of the most crooked companies in the world. Many people do not know that they have been committing criminal business practices for ten years now by fooling consumers with their fancy CVT transmissions that have prematurely failed on tens of thousands of Versas, Sentras, Rogues and other models and it is a disgrace that they have been allowed to get away with this kind of egregious behavior for so long. A class action lawsuit was filed against Nissan, but many car owners never received the details of the lawsuit until it was almost in settlement which settled in March 2020. Sadly this court in Tennessee and all the crooked lawyers attached to this class action lawsuit really received all the benefits of the settlement but tens of thousands of Nissan owners were left out in the cold because they sneakingly increased the warranty to a random 84,000 miles when many many transmissions have failed after that mileage but still very prematurely. I am one of those victims and had I known about the crookedness of this disgusting company I would have never purchased my 2015 Sentra from Hertz. My transmission started showing failure issues at approximately 70,000 miles, but it finally totally failed at 99,000 miles. I only found out about the class action lawsuit because of the research I was doing online and taking the car to a repair service to find out it had failed. I petitioned the court and objected to the settlement, but because there were only a few of us who objected, the judge denied the objection. I am not done with this, but because of the pandemic, I am not able to reach the news media investigative teams to report this crookery. It is an unconscionable act that Nissan has duped 100s of thousands of customers the last ten years. I intend on writing to the newspapers to further expose these crooks. They do not deserve being in business, and if people knew how the company was run and their ex ceo is an international fugitive, people maybe would stop buying their cars. Adding insult to injury I just received a disgusting piece of mail that Nissan has been forced to send to Nissan owners extending this f'ing warranty only because they were mandated to do so. What about the other 100s of thousands of customers who already got screwed? And furthermore, they have made it so repair services can't rebuild them, they have to purchase an already rebuilt transmission probably from a company that is connected to them. The cost is prohibitive for most of us, a whopping $4,000. My poor car has been sitting outside unable to be driven for seven months now and furthermore these cars will have no resale value due to the criminal business practices of Nissan. Couldn't get any worse than this!

Sentra SV 1.8L I4

  • CVT transmission
  • 27,534 miles

Driving a relative's 2015 Sentra while they live overseas for about a year. This car is a piece of crap and I don’t recommend it to anyone. The problems occurred on day 1, including a clunky and slippy CVT. It is not responsive and clunks really bad when I put it in gear. This car is just so cheap, the door seals are falling off, the letters on the emblems broke off, the key was malfunctioning today, and the front suspension is completely shot already. DON'T BUY THIS JUNK.

Sentra SV

  • Automatic transmission
  • 69,781 miles

If the transmission on 2015 Nissan Sentras where known to have transmission issues, why was this not disclosed to me upon purchase and why am I left having to spend my hard earned money on a car I have only owned for a couple of months? I want to feel safe and know that the Nissan Dealer is reputable and will stand my their work
