The contact owns a 2004 Nissan Titan. While driving approximately 50 mph on normal road conditions; proceeding to make a right turn, the "brake" warning light indicator illuminated on the instrument panel. Pressure was applied to the brake pedal followed by a loud a clicking noise. The contact was forced to apply extreme pressure to the the brakes in order to slow the vehicle down. The contact was able to drive into a parking lot; however, the warning indicator light remained illuminated until the engine was turned off. The contact was able to continue driving normally. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer for diagnostic testing. The failure was contributed to the "ABS" and the computer code was reset. The driver side caliper also locked and a technician replaced the defective front caliper, front brake pads and resurfaced the front rotors. The VIN was unavailable. The failure mileage was 87,000 and the current mileage was 87,773.

Bought the Nissan Titan used in November of 2007. I recently found a wet spot on the driver's side wheel (inside) under the brake rotor. I took the truck to the dealership and they said it seems to be a pretty common problem with the Titan. It's a leaking axle seal. This leak was causing brake fluid to leak around and possible onto the brake rotor, calipers, and pads. This is a very dangerous problem due to possible fire and or brake failure.

When trying to stop, at any speed, the brake pedal goes to the floor and there is a vibration from under the hood; can also smell brake fluid in the cab. Took the truck in once for the vibration recall and they replaced the calipers, rotors and pads. Then started having the above problem again and took it back to the dealership. Was told that the computer needed reprogrammed and some switches on the power brake booster needed replacing ($550). Have had it back 1 month now and doing it again. Luckily this time was close to dealership and took it in and now they are saying I need a new power brake booster ($700). Have owned 5 other Nissan vehicles and never had this much of a problem, and wonder does someone have to die before a recall is issued for these problems that we are having with the brakes.

The contact owns a 2004 Nissan Titan. While driving 55 mph, the driver could not stop the vehicle after applying the brakes. The vehicle went over an embankment. As a result, the driver sustained fatal injuries. The contact was unsure if the airbags deployed. The vehicle is presently being held by the hwy patrol. The vehicle had been taken for brake repairs 7 times and was released to the contact saying that the brakes were fine. Prior to the crash the brakes had failed in October and the contact had the vehicle serviced and filed a complaint. The service manager told the contact that he believed that there was still something wrong with the vehicle and was fired from his position. During prior failures, the ABS warning light became illuminated. The contact has reported the failures to Nissan with no resolution. The current and failure mileages were 83,000. This is the second complain that the contact has filed. The prior incident reported was 10/07 updated 01/24/08 the dealer stated performed recall dealing with seat belt, heating and A/C is intermittent, vehicle is overheating and rear taillights inoperable. She had to apply the emergency brake in order to stop the vehicle. The dealer stated that the ABS caused the failure. The powertrain was unknown. The current and failure mileages were 79,000. The consumer stated on 3/26/07 was in a car accident, the vehicle failed to stop at signal and she hit the rear of a pick up and pushed the vehicle in front to hit another vehicle. The consumer stated the other person sustained back injury. I own a 2004 Nissan Titan. I have had this vehicle in the shop for brake failure numerous times. I recently had a car accident in the vehicle because of brake failure. This vehicle was damaged, and the vehicle I hit was also damaged, and sustained injuries. This vehicle was now out of warranty, and the dealer will not repair it, I have stacks of service records, where the truck has been in the shop for brake failure since 2004 when I bought it new. Now I am looking at repairing the vehicle and the person I hit and the insurance company was giving me problems because they didn't believe that this vehicle was known for its brake failure.

2004 Nissan Titan, driving through super market shopping center, the brakes failed to stop the truck. My wife had to pump the brakes repeatedly in order for the truck to come to a stop. She was going less than 10 mph when this occurred. It continued to the dealership, which was 1/2 mile down the same street. The dealership could not find the problem or replicate it. She refuses to drive the truck and wants it gone. My daughter who was also in the truck will not go back into it. My brakes have been replaced twice in first at 11000 miles and again at 38000 now this at 42000 miles. With all the brake problems these trucks have had, someone is going to get killed.

The vehicle sustained left frontal damage and it was towed to an independent repair shop. The mechanic was unable to determine the cause of the accident and is repairing the left front of the vehicle. Although the problem with the brakes still exists, no other inspections have been made. A police report was filed at the scene.

2004 Nissan Titan crew cab pickup. I am residing in residential construction new subdivision which occasionally has mud on the streets. When the Titan goes through even a small amount of mud it loses brakes. I went through a stop sign and stopped, going down the opposite side shoulder. Luckily, no other vehicles were involved. But, after rolling again and pumping the brakes, they returned. Went through the muddy street again to test. Same result appeared, no brakes or very limited brakes. In addition, an awful noise was made when applying the brakes after going through the mud of a paved road. This is a potential accident/injury/death awaiting to happen.

While driving to work the owner noticed a shaking feeling when the brakes were applied for a stop light. There was extended stopping distance. The problem became progressively worse. Vehicle was taken to dealer for service in June, and the brakes were replaced at owner's expense. The first brake repair was at 20,000 miles and cost $1,000. Two months after the repairs dealership acted as if this was an isolated incident. Shaking at stop lights occurred again.. owner called and made an appointment with dealership to have this problem repaired. The owner asked the service manager what the company knew about the problem. The owner will refuse to pay for the repairs if it needs to be repaired. He will contact the national number for Nissan today. The vehicle was regularly serviced with records available.

Contact states she leased a vehicle from lia Nissan with 17 miles on it in 9-04. She heard a squeaking noise in the brakes. Also, the brakes went all the way to the floor. She took vehicle to a Nissan dealership in 1-05. They could not find anything wrong with the brakes. About 2 months later around April or may she noticed the steering wheel shaking when applying the brakes, and she would have to pump the brakes to get them to stop. This happens every time she applied the brakes regardless of the speed she was traveling. She has never had any warning lights to come on. Her husband told her that the shaking in the steering wheel was probably because the rotors on the brakes were bad. She called the dealership again, and they said there was a recall on the brakes, but they did not have the parts to fix it and they would mill the brakes down until the parts came in, to help eliminate the shaking. She never received any recall letters. A recall number was not available. In late may her husband took the car in to have the brakes milled down again. They put them on a waiting list for when the parts do come in. Today (7-15-05) when she went in, she was #18 on the waiting list; where in may she was #10 on the waiting list. The dealership will not relinquish any kind of receipts or documentation of the vehicle ever being there.

1.) truck shakes when brake is applied. 2.) truck shakes violently when brake is applied -hard to maintain control. 3.) Nissan turned the rotors. The Nissan representative acknowledged that there is a problem with the braking system on these trucks and that several other Nissan Titan owners were having the same problem but they will not offer a permanent fix until the rotors have been turned twice by the Nissan service center. At this point (the third appointment for brakes) they will install a new braking system. This should be rendered both unsafe and unacceptable. Since there is a noted problem, Nissan should have offered a permanent fix at the first service appointment. Nissan should not be allowed to gamble with people's lives by deterring a permanent fix on a safety component such as brakes.

Like many other Titan owners I am having constant problems with the front brakes getting soft and vibrating. Nissan keeps saying that they have a solution coming, but they keep pushing the date back. The last two times I've been in with this issue, their interim fix hasn't helped for more than a day. Brakes are something that both you and Nissan should not be screwing around on. This should have been fixed months ago.

Now, with 14000 on the odometer the vehicle has developed terrible shudder of steering wheel when brakes are applied, worse at higher speeds. Dealer has ordered new brakes and rotors for me, waiting for them to come in.

Consumer complained about a front brake problem. Owner had the rotors and pads replaced after 7,000 miles. When driving, the vehicle shook violently when braking. Owner contacted the manufacturer, and was told that they were aware that the brakes were defective because of a design flaw. The consumer took the vehicle in for service several times but the problem was not fixed.

My 2004 Nissan Titan has under 6,000 miles on it when it, like many others, started experienced brake judder/failure, especially when braking from highway speeds. Reported to the dealer, confirmed judder, and was added to Nissan's list for replacement parts as they become available (1 set/2 weeks nation-wide, I'm told). Returning home from work on a wet highway, under moderate braking for an accident ahead, the brakes locked, sending the Titan sideways into a barrier. I've driven accident-free for nearly 20 years and never experienced total loss of control as in the Titan...it simply would not stop and I was travelling well under the posted speed limit in moderate traffic. I have no doubt had the dealer replaced the brakes at the first complaint or Nissan installed adequate front brakes from the factory, the accident would have been avoided.
