On 6/20/2008 I brought my 2004 Nissan titan to a local dealership to have a recall item resolved, wiring harness replacement in rear cab doors, upon replacing the harness the airbag warning light came on, they then replaced the drivers side seatbelt and body harness, the recall for the rear door was directly related to the driver side pretensioner and airbag system, and was covered under the manufacturer warranty as a safety item.

On 6/03/2013 I noticed the airbag warning light had illuminated, I again went to a local Nissan dealership to have it looked at.

The service advisor at the the dealership advised that the drivers side seatbelt and body harness would have to be replaced, when I informed him that this work had already been accomplished five years prior, he stated that the parts and labor were out of warranty! For a safety related item!

This repair which consisted of replacing the same parts cost 574.00.

My contention is that the seatbelt system should not have a limited warranty, since they are safety related.

Titan XE 5.6L

On 6/3/2013 I went to my local Nissan dealership to resolve an airbag warning light problem.

After their mechanics examined my truck, I was advised by the service advisor that the drivers side seatbelt and harness would have to be replaced, after advising the advisor that this work was already accomplished on 6/2008, he advised me,( I know) that since the work was accomplished five years ago, the parts and labor were no longer under warranty.

My contention that since seatbelts are a safety item, there should not be a restricted warranty on these parts and Nissan should replace defective seatbelts and their systems free of charge.

This "fix" cost me 574.30.
