The contact owns a 2004 Nissan Titan. While driving approximately 55 mph, the gears began driving in the rear end. The contact drove the vehicle to the dealer. He discovered a recall for his vehicle. The dealer continues to repair the vehicle for free; however, when the warranty expires, the contact would have to pay $1,200 to $2,000. The spider gears failed and the rear end locked. The spider gears in the rear axle housing metal teeth were replaced on May 1, 2006 and in April of 2005. The failure has not occurred since 2006. The recall number was unknown. The current mileage was 35,500 and failure mileage was 23,616. Updated 02-14-08
