The door handles on my 2005 Nissan Titan freeze every time the temperature drops below freezing. I live in the northeast ! I bought the truck for safe winter driving but when the temperature drops below freezing the door handle freezes up and wont open. If you do manage to somehow get the door open you can not close it again until it thaws out. My wife and daughter both use this vehicle and I consider this an unsafe issue. I have also read many forums pertaining to this problem and am wondering why this has not become a recall.

The contact owns a 2005 Nissan Titan. The contact stated that all of the doors on the vehicle have failed to lock properly. The contact stated that when the weather became cold, it was hard to tell if the doors were completely latched shut. There were no warning lights on the dashboard indicating whether or not the door was not closed, but the doors don't seem to be secure. The dealer stated that the cable on the front drivers side door was broken, but the other doors are related to a technical service bulletin that stating that a seal allowed moisture in it and prevented from making the doors from latching properly. The failure mileage and current mileages were 45000.

2005 Nissan Titan. Door latch failure during cold weather below freezing. Live in anchorage Alaska, so time period of this weather is October - April. Door will not open, nor close properly from inside, or outside of vehicle. Had this problem last week, was not able to get back into vehicle for 10min while child was still in back seat. Yesterday 2 Nov driving on a highway door opened unexpectedly and passenger nearly fell out of vehicle. No one injured, however you can imagine the experience at highway speeds. There is a Nissan tsb that they will replace door locking mechanism if vehicle is under warranty. Nissan usa: Tbns bx56aa / tsb 05118. However if vehicle is not under warranty they quoted me at $400+ per door X's 4 doors. This is unreasonable and a severe safety hazard for most of the country that experiences weather below 32degrees F. it is a known failure that Nissan usa knows about. This should be a mandated recall. There will be severe lawsuits filed if another passenger, my child, or myself cannot get into a vehicle, or unexpectedly falls out. In cold temperatures the driver side door on our 2005 Nissan Titan crew cab is extremely difficult to or will not open. When it does open it sometimes will not latch when closed so the door would swing open if the vehicle is operated. If it does latch when closed it is impossible to open from the inside. This is a serious safety issue because it would make it impossible for the driver to exit the vehicle from the left side in case of emergency. This happens anytime the temperature is 30 degrees F or below.

The contact owns a 2005 Nissan Titan crew cab. When it becomes really cold in the single digits, the driver's side front door does not open when the release button is released on the remote or on the door panel. The contact can hear it clicking, but he cannot open the door. He can pull out the handle, but it does not disengage the locking mechanism. The failure is constant and dependent upon the temperature. The vehicle is no longer under warranty and the dealer stated that the contact was responsible for the repair. The current mileage was 49,200 and failure mileage was 49,150.
