Randomly, while driving anywhere I hit the brakes. The wheels almost lock up and I can hear the ABS kick in. Also the brake light is on the dash. I shut the truck off and when restarts everything is back to normal.

I own a 2005 Nissan Titan pickup which I drive mainly in the winter due to my job requiring me to go into work in every snow storm. I have only 128,000 mi on my truck. The truck sits in the summer to save on gas. After the truck sat for three months this summer had to change a leaky oil pan from rust. Once that was fixed I took it out to ready it for inspection. While driving came to a stop sign brake pedal went to floor. Tried pumping pedal and had no brakes at all. Engaged the E brake and had very little yet next to no stopping from that. Ended up constantly pumping brakes with no secondary circuit engaging. I continued to go through 2 more stop signs before I was able to coast to a stop. Luckily it was later at night and there wasn't many cars on the road or I would have been in a bad accident. After getting the truck towed home I had pulled the left front inner fender liner out to discover 2 junction blocks with 3 lines coming in and going out. All three lines had burst at the same time causing me to loose all brakes. I took a picture of this so everyone can see. Nissan should provide an extra covering or something to keep the road salt from getting to these lines because as these trucks get older I am sure people will experience the same thing as me but, may not be as lucky to avoid a bad crash.

I am the original owner 2005 Titan le. I have experienced a braking issue 8-10 times. While driving in normal traffic conditions on the freeway traffic begins to slow, I applied the brakes. The entire truck began to violently shutter, the red brake icon on the dash came on, and the brake peddle went almost all the way to the floor. I had to pull to the right to avoid hitting the vehicle in front of me. The harder you push the more the brakes seem to fail and the truck shakes harder. The only thing that fixes the issue is to stop the truck and turn it off and restart it. Everything goes back to normal as if it didn't happen. This has happened to me 8-10 times since owning this truck as new. I have read many incidents online in blogs etc.that are almost exactly as I have described. The dealer said it was an isolated incident. I whole heartily disagree with them. This is an issue that is ultimately going to cause injury or death. This has happened to me at freeway speeds, normal residential speeds (25mph) and everywhere in between. Last incident occurred on 11/8/2017.

Truck will not brake quickly. I have had to run off the road multiple times due to cars in front of me braking. Truck has trouble slowing down.

Rear axle seal leaks in this model it is a known problem yet Nissan still chooses to do nothing about it, it is a huge safety issue it leaks fluid continuously on to the back breaking system so not only could it comprise your whole back end but also your ability to stop your vehicle safely, this has been reported thousands of times to your Agency in the meantime the consumers continue to replace these every 30-40,000 miles just to maintain their safety and others on the road when I feel it is time Nissan address this and take the necessary steps to ensure the braking system in these vehicles is not creating a potential hazard top the driver or others on the road. I took my vehicle in for an oil change yesterday only to find out my seal is leaking again and now my back brakes need to be replaced again because they are no longer safe due to the oil leaking on them again from this seal I drive my children in this vehicle daily to school to games and im thankful that I happened to need an oil change or I would have had no idea it was leaking again or just how unsafe my driving this vehicle could potentially be for my children and myself or anybody that is driving near me when it requires braking to stop.

The brakes failed due to a pin hole in the left front brake line. There are three fittings that are in the same location on the truck. All three showed signs of corrosion. The one that failed looks like it had been damaged on installation. This truck is over 11 years old and has spent most of the time outside. It has been located in South Florida the entire time so has not seen any salt. All the other fittings and lines look fine. You can see from the picture the flat spot associated with the hole. There has been no work done on this line since the truck was new. (I am the original owner) I have the failed line. I repaired it myself with parts from the local Nissan dealer. The failure occurred with the truck on my property and there was no accident involved. See attached photo of the hole in the line. This line comes from the ABS unit to a fitting close to the front wheel.

The truck stalled out no power had to crash into shoulder of road and embankment. Glad we survived the bumpy crash, I just had suspension work done that saved us. We read the ipdm board or ECM relay is bad and causes this stalling to happen. Part number for ECM relay 284B7-CW29.

Rear passenger side axle began to leak and fluid went onto brakes.

I am an a.S.E. certified technician, and have discovered the rear axle seals on both sides of the vehicle are leaking, in which can cause fluid to be slung on to brake linings, also if too much leaks can lead to differential lock up.

While moving forward from park, the rear tires locked up. I reversed and then moved forward to try to free the tires. The emergency brake was off. It took several times of shifting gears before the vehicle would move freely. I researched the internet and found several other Titan owners had the same problem. They traced the cause to the rear emergency brake pads dislodging from the hub and becoming lodged in the rear rotor. My mechanic removed the rear rotor on the right side and the emergency brake pads fell out. The left side pads were still mounted but with one poke with a screwdriver, the pads fell out. One youtube video shows a Titan with this problem but additionally the brake pad broke the rear caliper bracket.

Axle seal failure resulting in oil on the inside of both rear wheels and oil soaking rear brakes rendering rear brakes useless.

Rear axel seal is leaking for the third time, which can compromise the rear brakes with axel fluid. Nissan made the first repair at 30,000 miles under warranty. I paid for parts and made repairs myself the second time. Now at the third I have contacted Nissan Consumer Affairs, and they have refused, with no explanation, to help with this repair, even though they issued an internal service bulletin in 2010, to replace the complete axel with bearing and seal. So Nissan is aware that they have an issue with the early model Titans. I guess they are waiting for someone to be seriously injured or die before they address this issue.

The emergency parking brake pads fell of the shoes inside the rear disk drum, and wedged inside causing the rear tire to lockup, for a second, and cause the truck to jerk and make a loud noise.

The vehicle braking began to deteriorate so I checked each wheel, front and back. While inspecting the rear brake pads and rotors I noticed oil on both. Upon further inspection I noticed that the rear axle seal on both sides was leaking oil and it had gotten on the rotors and pads. I replaced both rotors and all pads on the rear, and inspected the rear axle vent which I found plugged. I installed a new vent but the rear axle seals are still leaking and need to be replaced. In doing research on the problem I found it to be common on this vehicle.
