2006 Nissan Titan axle seal failure. This will be the second axle seal replaced and the second time the pinion seal has been replaced on a truck with only 73000 miles. The cost is prohibitive and the failure causes grease to drip on the rear brakes.

Rear axle is leaking oil from it. Its getting the rear brakes wet, with the oil is making it harder to stop. I first noticed this the other day when I went through a red light because I could not stop. My Nissan Titan is a 2006 xe. 74500 miles. I have only towed a trailer with the truck a hand full of times and never exceeded 5000 lbs of trailer weight which includes the weight of the trailer. There is also a tow package installed in the truck. I am currently looking in to parts and prices of repairing this leak. If this could cause brakes to fail how come this isn't a recall" and if it does become a recall will they also cover any paint damage that may occur from the oils on the tail gate"

1. noticed "4 wheel low" indicator light was on even though never engaged, ABS indicator light on and a loud "clunk" emanating from the rear axle. Truck began to pull to one side. 2. rear axle gears destroyed, rear ebrake "shoes" and all associated parts destroyed. 3. dealer wanting to replace entire braking assembly, rear axle assembly at customer expense. Customer is below the man. Warranty dictated miles/months. Dealer does not want to cover it under the manufacturers warranty and a platinum warranty from "the mechanic" aka "the warranty group".

Right rear brake full of oil from defective axel seal. Oil has leaked out of the right side of the rear axle and on to the disk brakes causing the right rear wheel to lock up when the brakes are applied. My family was forced to stop driving the truck as it will cause an accident and would cost $1200 to repair.

06 Nissan Titan 4X4 rear end failure. There was a clicking from the driver side rear on my way home from a vacation, a few miles down the road I stopped at a stoplight. When I began to accelerate there was a pop and I lost all power to the rear end. My axle somehow snapped almost dislodging it from the vehicle and now the dealership tells me I need to pay for an entire new rear end. This truck was never abused and saw mild offroad usage. I am very concerned as I could have lost my rear wheel while traveling down the highway at high speeds. This is not the only incident of Nissan Titan owners that I have heard. I believe it is becoming a serious issue.

On Saturday Aug. 7 I noticed a puddle of what appeared to be oil at the right rear of my 2006 Nissan Titan.the entire wheel was covered in oil, after inspecting, I found I had a leak from the seal on the axle. While trying to find out how and why, I found out that this is a common problem with Nissan. Why is there not a recall. This could be an expensive repair to any owner. Nissan needs to stand behind their product.

I placed my truck on a lift to inspect the underbody and change my oil. During the process, I saw liquid streaks down the inside of my left rear wheel hub and rotor. I had determined the rear axle seal was the leaking culprit, enabling axle fluid to drain onto the wheel hub and brake assembly. Although brake performance was noticeably degraded, the situation could have become far worse. The Nissan dealership replaced the seal assembly, but I am not confident this will correct the issue. Numerous incidents similar to this nature have been reported on Nissan Titan auto clubs, such as www.titantalk.com/forums. the dealership already had a technical service bulletin (with a third revision date over 3 years being out in service) - this tells me that Nissan knows there is a problem with the axle, but will not recall the vehicles and fix them properly.

I own a 2006 Nissan Titan which has had two rear axle seals leak. Both were fixed under warranty by my local Nissan dealer. My understanding is that this is a common problem with Nissan Titans and poses a safety issue since the leaks allow rear differential oil to leak on the rear brakes.
