About These NHTSA Complaints:
The NHTSA is the US gov't agency tasked with vehicle safety. Complaints can be spread across multiple & redundant categories, & are not organized by problem. See the Back button — blue bar at the very top of the page — to explore more.
During an emergency stop a loud pop was heard and the driver's seat shifted forward causing the driver's weight to move into the footwell. After the incident occurred the seat cushion beneath the seat had ripped and visible bits of foam were observed under the seat. Truck was brought to dealership for inspection, dealership confirmed the seat had ripped and several clips had broken off. Dealer re-torqued seat restraining bolts and replaced clips and sent notice to materials engineer at Nissan for further investigation and analysis. Approximately one week later the seat has continued to loosen affecting driver stability and positioning while driving. Brought truck back to dealer and was told several restraining bolts had either sheared or stripped, since it could not be determined whether the vehicle was safe to drive I was put into a rental until an inspection could occur. I am still awaiting a response from Nissan both for the inquiry and for parts and Nissan has not responded to either. Issue after approximately two week was then referred to BBB autoline to begin buyback process as Nissan has still not made further attempts to repair the vehicle nor have they provided a timeline of when that might occur.
