Takata recall. The contact owns a 2016 Nissan Titan. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 17V068000 (air bags); however, the part to do the repair was unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The contact called hudson Nissan (7331 rivers ave, North charleston, SC) and was informed that the part would not be available until November. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue and stated that they would have to contact some dealers to see if parts were available. The contact had not experienced a failure. A low speed accident occurred. The driver and passenger airbags deployed. The drivers side airbag exploded rather than inflate, leaving me with no protection. The gas and particulate filled the cabin instantly leaving me with no vision in or outside the truck until I was able to open the driver door. The smell was similar to burnt gunpowder. A debris scorched a hole in front of my shirt. The passenger bag only partially inflated. Speed 30mph. Direct head on collision to side of other vehicle. I have picture but cannot upload right now. This airbag system is dangerous and defective.
