During winter season, when more than 2 inches of snow falls, when pressing on the break, I have to press and release repeatedly for the car to stop at a light. If I try to stop without doing so, the car will continue past the stop light road mark. When I press on the break, the break pedal feels like it touch the road. I have experienced this more than three times. Each time I experience this, it has always been a scary one. One day, I was going into the back of a car at a stop light when I couldn't break. I had to press the horn and held it so the driver would realize I had a problem. I had to swing away as not to hid the driver ahead. I had just left my house a minute on the same block, so I was not driving more than about 10 to 15 miles per hour. Please help me with this safety issue with my Nissan Versa 2007 car.

Reporting an issue with the 2007 Nissan Versa intermittent brake failure. When driving on dry roads and braking hard, the brake pedal would go to the floor, then recover itself and have adequate pressure within about a minute. Car has been regularly serviced since purchase, including annual brake service. This issue has occurred twice in the car's lifetime - the first time, the driver was able to maneuver the car out of traffic without issue. Full brake system was checked out with no issues found in master cylinder or other hydraulics and unable to repeat issue. After 1.5 years, the second time the issue occurred, the driver was in stop & go rush hour traffic on dry roads and when hitting the brakes, the brake failure caused a collision with another vehicle with airbag deployment. Full brake system check by multiple shops showed no issue with brake hydraulics, and again was unable to repeat the issue. Brake fluid had been recently exchanged. Owner has requested event data recorder info pull from Nissan usa to determine that brake pedal was applied and car did not slow down - Nissan usa stating $600 fee plus 1 month lead time until such data can be pulled from the vehicle. Nissan tech has confirmed that such an issue has been seen in some vehicles, but cannot confirm cause, only that replacement of a working master cylinder has fixed the problem, which goes against reason of replacing something that is functioning under standard test conditions.

Was told excessive rust on drums were making brakes squeal in reverse. Brakes make hard rubbing noise when stopping in a hurry city streets.. dealer said if noise continues to bothered me I would have to have drums replaced.my car is just under 20,000 miles. Is it reasonable that I pay to fix the problem" car has rarely been driven in winter salt/ conditions. Very low mileage for a car this age. Isn't this corrosion considered excessive wear"
