Versa 1.8L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 18,000 miles

I was cruising down the highway at around 75 mph, traffic came to a sudden stop. Stopped just fine, but when I went to accelerate again the engine started sputtering. I had it towed straight to the nearest dealer, with no concern, because I knew it was still under warranty. They informed me that the engine was blown and insinuated that I had neglected the oil. When I informed them that I had the oil changed regularly, and that no "dummy" lights had appeared what so ever to indicate any such problems, they insisted that I produce any and all records of such transactions. When I could not do this to their satisfaction (I had moved and could not find paperwork), they refused to accept responsibility and on top of that sent me a bill for the rental car they had offered as a "courtesy". Needless to say, I have never been back to a Nissan dealer since.

Versa

  • Automatic transmission
  • 57,000 miles

My engine blew at 57,000 miles. I had regular scheduled maintenance performed as recommended. I had gold warranty but when the engine was replaced, it was replaced with a rebuilt engine with a new warranty of 12,000 miles or one year on my rebuilt engine. I was still covered under my extended warranty for the rest of the vehicle but now my 2 year old car has a rebuilt engine which could potentially only last a year. They, in my opinion, should have replaced my engine with a NEW engine.
