The gear/shift selector won't always go into park, drive or reverse correctly. When the car is put in park, it will show on the shift selector and the dashboard but it's hard to get the key out of the ignition, the key will get stuck. When the car is put in drive, it will show on the shift selector and the dashboard but it won't immediately move when the foot is put on the gas pedal. The shift selector has to continuously be played around until it works but it only works on a temporary basis.

Fan knob for ac/heater at first would not move then fell off. Mechanic said that the connector in back of control head had melted. They said they were surprised it didn't catch the car on fire. I had taken the car in for new tires, tune up, coolant flush and because of the knob falling off.

My air conditioner went out after 5 years of having the car. I had to pay over $1600 to have it fixed. My trunk stopped opening this year and could not be fixed. Now, there is an air bag problem with no replacement parts available yet. The dealer wants a $50 dollar deposit and for me to bring my insurance records to get a loaner. I was told to have someone with me for they have no room to store my car. I would need a person to ride with me so that the car can be stored in my driveway.

We live in Virginia, while my 18 year old was driving out of high school to come home he felt a huge bump coming around the corner coming home (thank goodness he was close to our neighborhood and not in the highway). He stopped the vehicle close to the house and noticed that as he was turning the coils must have hit the tire but due to the rust under the car from the salt the muffler fell off. This could have cause some severe damage to someone driving behind him if he was driving faster or in the highway. I have called Nissan cooperation first to explain the situation. But since Nissan representative made a spectacle of herself when I told her I had cancer and its the only vehicle we have that my son takes me to appointments they unavoidably have been avoiding to call me back.. she told me I dont sound like I have cancer!! I didnt call for ignorance I called to have my issue resolved not to have my cancer thrown in my face. They had my claim number #21697765 transferred to their head office due to the insensitivity and the issue. Their head office calls and leaves me messages at the worst times of the day and never calls me back when I call. I am adding a picture of the rusted muffler and the damage it could have caused my son and his life and others on the road! truly this is irresponsible on Nissan's part!!! I haven't even passed 67000 miles on my car. Please know that allstate was called and advised of issue on Feb.17,2015 same day as incident. My representatives name was sarah and she advised me to call Nissan and they must supply a better part or a better vehicle due to a lack of response and lack of safety parameter of my sons life and if I was I the vehicle, my life!

The metal heat shield plate separating muffler and fuel tank (?) is detached from the body or frame by corrosion (of the screws). It not only make severe rattlling noise whenever engine runs but also may cause fire and explosion if the plate is completely lost while the car is driven on the road. The plate is now barely hung on the muffler.

Cars exhaust is made of very poor metal. Just after 4 years muffler rusted off from connection. Replaced muffler on 03/25/14 with aftermarket one. Spring of 2015 I noticed exhaust noise became louder again. After inspection found that mid pipe rusted off at connection to muffler, and another leak in cat converter section of exhaust. My Versa has 71K miles and needs whole new exhaust. My mom has same Versa and same problems. I do not think that this is coincidence in many forums Versa owners complain about same problems. Looks like Nissan went very cheap on materials for this model cars. I had many other manufacturers vehicles and none had same issues.

I opened my drivers door, the handle came completely off. The drivers door will not open from inside either. It sounds like it still works but nothing happens when you try to open it from the inside. The key will not open it, no outside door handle, possible interior plastic\electrical components broken. Vehicle still runs and drives fine. Powertrain is intact. Interior is falling apart due to cheap construction. Looked online to the Nissan forum board and saw many other people with same problem with door handles breaking for no apparent reason. Car is only equipped with one key entry on drivers side only. Keyfob and security system starting to break down. Went to Nissan dealership in steven point wi and they will only fix if I have money to repair. Ford dealership in Wisconsin rapids where I bought the car said that the warranty does not cover this. Repair could cost me over $700+.

Spring broke unexpectedly, while driving at a low velocity. It's hard to believe that a spring can break as it did. The vehicle has low miles, and the mechanic couldn't bekieve it himself. Mechanic informed me that he has repaired two other vehicles, same make and year with the same exact issue, and the same exact side. My estimate for the repairs is $1,500. If Nissan is aware of the issue, and has done nothing about it, they should be ashamed of theirselves. This is a safety hazard that can lead to injury or even fatalities. I have been buying Nissan vehicles for almost twenty years, but this has made me lose confidence in the company.

I was making a right turn when I hear a snap and then passenger tire gets popped and deflates. At an intersection going 10 to 15 mph. It turns out my front spring on the passenger side collapsed and has snapped a peice of spring into my tires blowing it. I haven't driven this car for long, and drive quite safely. I since had to purchase new fires and now stuck with my springs still collapsed. Should this incident have happened while driving highway, there would most likely be a case of an accident and risk of injury as the incident happened quite suddenly, luckily I wasn't at high speeds. Also, my front bumper has suffered damage as a result of the extreme height decline from tire and spring incident. First impressions tells me the springs (and muffler) use an alloy that suffers from extreme accelerated corrosion/rust after seeing the muffler and springs. But I'd need to investigate further.

I was driving my 2010 Nissan Versa to work on March 12, 2013 when I heard a grinding sound coming from my front driver side tire area. I wasn't far from work so I drove there and called my mechanic. He picked up my car and found that a coil spring had broke. He told me it needed to be replaced but that he would suggest that I replace the struts and coil springs on both tires. He got the parts in the next day and fixed it all for me. About a week ago I read about a possible defect that is under investigation for coil springs braking and slicing tires on the Nissan Versa's. although in my instance it didn't result in a car crash I feel that it is important for me to let you know that I did have a coil spring brake. I also had called Nissan and had told them about it happening. They told me that it is normal wear and tear on the vehicle. My Versa didn't even have 50,000 miles on it yet but that is normal wear and tear? we have always driven our cars until they had well over 100,000 miles on them and never did even one of them have a coil spring break. If something does come of this defect I would like to get the money back that I spent replacing my struts and coil springs.

The muffler on my car has rusted and broken a clean cut. Nissan should warranty this. They claim its from driving salted roads but while I was in the waiting room two other customers walked in with the same problem. I believe this is a warranty issue. They wanted over $500 to fix this problem. I took it to another repair shop to have the same work done for only $200. They have to now replace my muffler and flange. The repair shop said it looks like they used bad materials on the muffler and that they have serviced many 2008-2011 Versa's this year with the exact same problem. It breaks off right at the part where the pipe meets the exhaust. This is terrible. I am a single mother and struggling as it is to get by without having to worry about faulty or poorly made products. They should recall the vehicles and replace these problematic parts.

I was traveling West on rt. 9 in West chesterfield nh. A large, white, unmarked box truck began tailgating me. It was quite alarming, because the truck was very large and he was very close behind me. I was traveling 5 mph above the speed limit and he was dangerously close to my back bumper. At one point, I'm sure there was less than one car length between us. It looked like a business truck, but there were no markings. The license plate was from Connecticut, number K97642. The driver was also swerving behind me, as if he was considering passing. It made me feel very unsafe.
