My passenger air bag light has been coming on and going off and coming back on for more than one year. When I asked the garage about it I was told it didn't affect my state inspection and not to worry about it. I was informed recently that many more vehicles have had airbag recalls and I should check on my car. I learned Nissan has created 3 zones A, B and C for the issue of humidity affecting the malfunction of passenger airbags on my car. I also learned that it isn't safe for anyone to ride in the front passenger seat until it is replaced. Zone A includes South Carolina and states further south. Zone B includes North Carolina. It doesn't allow for the southern coastal area of NC to receive the classification of other southern coastal cities. My area is as humid as any coastal city in SC, GA or FL. I emailed customer service at Nissan with a copy of my Carfax showing that my car was originally registered in FL for its first 27 months of life. Since the damage from humidity is progressive and cumulative I stated that my passenger airbag needed to be included in the recall for Zone A. Yesterday a man from Nissan called to tell me that there was no recall on my vehicle and I should take it to the dealer and have it repaired at my own expense. I find this instruction unacceptable. Nissan installed the faulty airbag and needs to replace it with one that is safe to have on board. How do I appeal?

Passenger air bag light comes on indicating the air bag has been disabled.
Nissan issued a recall for exactly this problem in 2007. When we called Nissan about it they said the problem had been fixed. Yet on my 2010 versa this has occurred twice in the last month. I got it fixed the first time when my mechanic got it working. Then it occurred a second time within a month and the whole seat belt assembly needs replacement at a cost of $750. Since this is a safety issue they should stand behind it. Last Nissan I'm buying.

The airbag indicator flashing on the dashboard is distracting. I was constantly afraid that my airbag would deploy. The local Lia Nissan dealer is so nasty about looking at anything that was faulty after I originally bought the vehicle that I couldn't stand to go into the dealership. They were always warning that if anyone besides a Nissan dealer repaired my vehicle, the warranty would be voided. Let me add that the loan officer grabbed my behind when I was leaving his office on date of purchase.
