Engine runs very hot (by design), and burns excessive oil. Nissan should at least ensure the oil, engine temperature, or check engine light are activated to protect the engine. My engine was completely out of oil with no indication what so ever. By the time I realized it, it was too late and had to replace the engine. I monitored the replacement engine carefully and noticed it too was burning excessive oil. Replaced the pcv valve which seemed to help somewhat. But now I make sure to check oil levels weekly, which is a pain in the ass and ridiculous. Others complaining online of similar pattern (no indicator lights warning of low oil leading to damage). Smells like a recall to me, but Nissan played dumb about it. After dumping parts into this car for the past few years I can say this car is a cheap build that uses the same parts as the awful Sentra predecessor - AVOID.
