NOISE IN THE ENGINE / TRANSMISSION. TWO DIFFERENT DEALERS SAID IT IS "NORMAL". DIDN'T CHARGE, MY CYNICAL SIDE SAYS THEY DIDN'T WANT A RECORD OF MY VISIT FOR LIABILITY REASONS. RPMS RUN HIGHER THAN NORMAL. WAS A SERVICE ADVISOR IN A GARAGE AND ALWAYS MAINTAINED VEHICLE FLUIDS, TIRES, ETC AT MY COST SO IT HAS NOT BEEN NEGLECTED. NEVER RUN IT HARD, IT'S A VERSA AFTER ALL.

My daughter bought her first car, a Nissan 2013 Versa SV with the CVT transmission. Almost immediately after buying it we realized there was a sluggishness in the car when accelerating from a stop or a slow down. We brought it back to the used car dealer who said his mechanic couldn't find anything wrong with it. After a few more weeks of this problem we decided to bite the bullet and pay a nissan dealership too much money to have a look at it. For only $139.00 they gave us the news that this particular transmission was dead and for only $3800.00 more we could get it replaced!
That's more than we paid for it in the first place!!!

We bought our 2013 Versa S used, with 85,000 miles on it. At about 100,000 miles (roughly 6 months later), the transmission started acting up. When accelerating, the RMPs spike between 1st and 2nd. If we don't let off the gas for about 5 seconds, the transmission will eventually shift extremely hard. This is most noticeable when accelerating from a complete stop or trying to accelerate to highway speed. I drive in Atlanta Rush Hour. This is a HUGE issue, as most of my 50 mile commute is stop and go.
Two different mechanics told us the transmission needs to be replaced. At 100,000 MILES...ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!?! Initial estimates, $3,500 to $4,000! I paid $5,000 cash for the car! This is insane! Clearly, the warranty is no longer valid. I am stuck with a piece of junk that should have lasted at least another 100,000 miles with routine maintenance and care. I am so angry right now. I am sure Nissan will be ZERO help even though they know this is a major issue with this year, model, and CVT engine. How in the hell do automobile companies get away with selling junk with known problems?!
