Versa Plus 1.6L

  • CVT transmission
  • 54,680 miles

Purchased my car new as the original owner in Oct 2013. It has less than 58,000 miles. It will sputter, has problems accelerating, and almost stalls making it very dangerous to merge onto freeways or to turn onto busy streets. My check engine light is on. I left my car with dealer for 2 weeks who stated they could not recreate the issue. The only thing they could say is they believe it is due to moisture from a crack in the taillight.

Update from Jan 19, 2022: Was the Transmission but due to the fact that I had no check engine lights every time I brought it to Nissan dealer I was told until a light appears they can't do anything. Well One night on my way home it totally went out and that is the exact time the check engine light came on right after I passed the 7 year extended warranty, I was still under the 70,000 miles. Had it towed to Nissan was advised transmission not covered and would be $4,000.00 to contact Nissan to see if they would offer financial assistance. I did so and they agreed to cover 1/2 the cost.

Versa 1.6 SV 1.6L V4

  • CVT transmission
  • 68,000 miles

I've been hearing about the transmission problems on the Nissan Versa, especially about the acceleration problems. My 2014 Nissan Versa has an acceleration problem which doesn't go past 40 mph. I have to lay off the gas, switch it to neutral and then to drive again while applying the gas to get it to go 50+ mph. In variable situations, this could be potentially dangerous. My vehicle has a CVT tranny which sucks.
