While accelerating the car will hesitate and the rpms jump to around 4000 then back to 2500 then up to 3500 if you take off too quickly. I’ve found it best to very, very slowly try to build up speed. When coming to a bridge I build speed before approaching knowing much of the velocity will be bled off before I reach the top.
I’m planning to have a used transmission installed to replace this one. The total cost is estimated to be $1850 for a vehicle I’ve had for just over 2 years.

I PURCHASED MY 2018 NISSAN VERSA FROM CARMAX IN 2020 AT WHICH TIME I WAS TOLD IT WAS PART OF A FLEET, SERVICED REGULARLY AND NO ACCIDENTS. DURING THE TEST DRIVE, IT WAS SO NOISEY THAT MY HUSBAND ASKED WAS IT IDELING HIGH? A YEAR LATER I GOT A NOTICE IN THE MAIL REGARDING AN EXTENDED WARRANTY AND A VOUCHER WHICH I DID NOT UNDERSTAND. AT THE TIME MY HUSBAND WAS BATTLEING CANCER AND I SET THE NOTICE ASIDE. MY VERSA WAS NOT MY MAIN CONCERN AS WAS MY HUSBAND'S HEALTH AT THE TIME. BESIDES, I HAD JUST PURCHASED THE VEHICLE IN 2020 AS A USED VEHICLE. NOT EXPECTING ANY PROBLEMS.
SINCE THAT TIME, I'VE REPLACED THE ORIGINAL BATTERY IN SPRING 2024, REPLACED BARONS, AND REPLACED FRONT BRAKES. IN 2023, I NOTICED THE NOISE AND SLOW ACCELERATION ESPECIALLY AFTER STOPPING FOR A STOP SIGN, RED LIGHT OR STOPPED VEHICLE AHEAD OF ME. NTHE ISSUE GOT WORST IN 2024 ALONG WITH THE HEATING SYSTEM BEING VERY HOT EVEN ON LOW AND BEING FELT AFTER BEING TURNED OFF. TOOK IT TO MY MECHANIC WHO DID A TEST DRIVE AND SAID THAT SOMETHING IS GOING ON WITH THE VEHICLES TRANSMISSION AND TO TAKE IT TO THE DEALER BECAUSE HE DID NOT PERFORM TRANSMISSION WORK.
NISSAN DEALERSHIP TOLD ME THAT THE VEHICLE NEEDE A DIAGNOSTICS TEST WHICH WOULD COST 225 BUCKS. HOWEVER, IF IT WERE THE FAULT OF NISSAN USING FAULTY PARTS, THE DIAGNOSIS ALONG WITH THE REPAIRS WOULD BE THE RESPONSIBLITY OF NISSAN. I HAVE AN APPT. ON 03/12/25 AT WHICH TIME I WILL FIND OUT WHAT IS CAUSING THE ISSUES WITH THE VEHICLE. I MUST SAY THAT I'VE DONE A LOT OF RESEARCH ON THIS VEHICLE AND THE CVTS APPEARS TO BE THE ISSUE IN MANY NISSAN MODELS INCLUDING THE 2018 VERSA. THERE ALSO APPEAR FROM MY RESEARCH TO BE SEVERAL LAWSUITS FILED AGAINST NISSAN FOR THIS PART. I GUESS I WILL FIND OUT SOON THE FATE OF MY CAR WHICH I WILL COMPLETE PAYMENTS ON MARCH 2026. NO MORE NISSANS FOR ME. I'VE HAD AN ALTIMA WITH THE PEELING PAINT AND NOW THE VERSA SEDAN WITH A BAD CVT. WHERE WAS THE DAMN RECALL ON THIS VEHICLE LIKE SO MANY OTHER NISSAN MODELS?
