Back in Sept. my right head gasket was blown, and on the recommendation of the "Service Advisor" at the local dealership I also had the timing belt, water pump, exhaust manifold and several gaskets and belts replaced. Please refer to previous post about THAT nightmare!
Last week I smelled anti-freeze and there were a few drips of in under my car. Didn't happen all the time. Sometimes it doesn't do it- sometimes a few drops- one time it "peed" for a few minutes then stopped. Back to the dealership. I was sure it had to be something they did 2 months ago during the 20 hours they worked on my car last time. They assured me that they have a 12 month warranty on repairs they do- and I have an extended warranty which previously paid for $1200.00 of the previous $2300.00 repair bill.
Called me the next day to say my "water outlet housing" is leaking and they called the warranty company but its not covered. I called the warranty company myself and they said they were told my thermostat housing is leaking. I assume these are two different things. They quoted me a price of $498.00 to repair it! I know the part can't be much but they say they need to get to it to repair it which will entail a lot of labor $$$. I JUST paid them for 20 hours of labor 2 months ago. I asked if they took this part off when they did the last repair and they said they didn't work even close to where this is located in the engine. My warranty covers gaskets so I asked if a gasket was needed as part of the repair. They don't seem to think so, but I found TSB with a pre glued gasket that attaches the part to the intake manifold, and I'm sure they will need to use this gasket. The "Service Advisor" told me she thinks they use a type of glue or adhesive- no gasket. Does anyone out there have a clue as to what this repair entails?
I asked if it was possible they might have damaged this part when doing the other repairs, and they swear they never went near it. I am trying to get a complete engine diagram and cannot find one, but the ones I do find indicate very close proximity of this part to where they replaced the water pump. Can anyone please help me? I am trying to get info so I can go in there armed with information that will blow what they say out of the water. The TSB I refer to is NTB02044. Will it help to bring it in and wiggle it at them? I have no idea what to do, my car is leaking, and I now know that I could have bought a NEW ENGINE for the amount of $$ I already spent. Thanks!
