Xterra V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 116,000 miles

ABS/SLIP/VDC warning lights all came on and stayed on, not while driving, just from turning on the car. After taking it into a very reliable mechanic, no codes could be pulled, but the "check engine" light wasn't on. They made an educated guess that it was a wheel sensor, tried to replace it, but that did nothing - except now, the "check engine" light was on, AND HERE'S THE FUN PART - because those warnings are tripped, my 4wd won't engage - and I live in the mountains in the snow. 4wd is something I need to get me out of trouble, not what I need to fail due to over-computerized systems. Now in it's 4th trip to the shop for advanced diagnostics, if it ends up being the ABS control module (which I've now seen in other forums failing around my mileage,) could cost almost 1k for part and labor. On top of the almost 4k I spent not even 6 months ago for the dreaded radiator/transmission failure, this car is shaping up to be the WORST DECISION I'VE EVER MADE.

Xterra 4.0L

So a sensor fails AGAIN and causes the SLIP, ABS AND 4X4 to stop working. Why is this happening? Right now I have had the part replaced and the issue is still showing up? Back to Nissan to try to find out why.

I'm getting sick of the issues with this truck. It seem s like there is always a light on for something! We bought a Ford Escape for my wife at the same time I got the Xterra. So far the Ford has had ZERO issues and the Nissan has been a pain in the ass! Time to go back to Ford. This is the first time I have bought a truck other then a Ford and it will be the last!
