I have the typical Nissan issue with water in the transmission caused by crappy parts in the cooling system. I can't really explain in words how frustrating it is, and how the attempt to satisfy the class action lawsuit really doesn't solve anything, since the average mileage that it's noticeable is 95k miles, and the new warranty only goes to 100k miles. My issues only started at 136k miles, and now it's costing me $4,000 after I had nearly paid my auto loan off.

Nissan won't even give me a new radiator to keep the problem from happening again after the transmission is rebuilt, so we're re-routing the transmission around the radiator to solve the problem going forward. It's pretty awful in general, and while it has not caused any accidents, it's definitely prevented me from going places on longer road trips because I don't want my transmission to stop working mid road trip. The point of an Xterra is to go out and explore the earth, yet I can't even leave town for fear of losing the entire transmission.

Took my car into the shop for a vibration and noise in the rear. figured it was brake or wheel bearing related. mechanic originally thought the same after road test. no issues located on wheels or brakes. mechanic then heard metal on metal with stethoscope. took apart the rear end to find a worn and bad carrier bearing. He advised that he cannot recently recall replacing one. no local auto parts store or nissan had the part. so maybe its rare. the part was ordered and repaired. mechanic advised that it was fixed just in time, could have completely fell apart or deteriorated worse and messed up much more costing into the thousands.
