2007 Nissan Xterra fuel gauge began by not responding to change in fuel tank after fill-up. Then service engine soon light came on. After some driving it came back, but then after filling tank again it did the same thing. After third time it seems to be stuck there at extreme empty with light lit and ses light on. I understand this may be from the fuel sending unit, which I have found from research that many Xterra owners are experiencing the same problem. This should be a recall since the part is obviously faulty and could result in an accident when pulling into traffic and running out of gas.

My 2007 Nissan Xterra has a fuel gauge that does not go to full after the tank is filled. The gauge drops to empty and the fuel indicator light goes on indicating low fuel. In addition, the service engine soon message indicator light goes on. This could cause the vehicle to run out of gas and stall in traffic, increasing the risk of crash. There currently is a recall on the 2006 and 2008 models (NHTSA #10V075000) related to a faulty fuel sender float arm causing the instrument panel to mislead. This is very common as there are many complaints of the same issue.

On 4/16/2010 I filled up my 2007 Nissan Xterra 4X4 with gas. When I started the engine I noticed the fuel gauge only read 1/2 tank and that the "service engine soon" lamp was on. The light has remained on since and I have had to reset the trip mileage everytime I refuel so that I don't run out of gas. I called the dealer and they said most likely it is the fuel level sensor and that they would have to drop the tank and replace the sensor/pump assembly. Fine I said, then they told me it would cost around $600, not fine. I decided to shop around because the price was too high. While doing some research online I found out that this is a very common problem and was the cause for recalls on the '02-'03 Xterras. If this was a recall in earlier models why has it not been fixed in the later models. I am very upset and do not want to be ripped off for a malfunctioning part.

Fuel level sending unit stopped working shortly after warranty ran out. Spoke to dealership about it and they have had multiple Xterras and frontiers with the same issue. Nissan issued a recall for some but not all of the affected vehicles, and unfortunately mine is one of ones that is not covered.

The fuel sending unit (fsu) on my 2007 Nissan Xterra is no longer sending fuel level to the dash gauge. Nissan has admitted fault on 2006 model years only, and has issued a recall for that year, however the forum I am on for my Xterra shows it to be a consistent problem for Xterras manufactured from 2005-2008. This has left a number of people stranded with no fuel (including myself in the middle of the freeway) while still showing 1/4 tank of gas. At other times, the gauge will show completely empty after having just been filled completely. Dealers are currently charging $400-$500 to repair an obviously defective unit that could result in someone being seriously injured.

Filled fuel tank on April 5, 2010. Upon starting vehicle, fuel gauge showed full. Five minutes later, fuel gauge slowly moves until it is showing completely empty, and low fuel warning light came on. Three days later, the gauge is still showing empty, and the fuel warning light is on. A service engine soon light is also illuminated. Today, the gauge moved up and down several times, leaving me no sure way to know what the true level of fuel is. Upon taking to a Nissan dealership for repair, I was told that it is a common, known problem by Nissan, but that I would be responsible for all repair costs. At this time, I have absolutely no way of knowing what level of fuel there is in my vehicle. I cannot believe that Nissan would not want to fix a known problem that could result in a vehicle running out of fuel, and possibly causing a crash because the vehicle could not accelerate.

The contact owns a 2007 Nissan Xterra. The contact was driving approximately 55 mph and the fuel gauge indicator illuminated. The fuel gauge displayed an inaccurate reading of half full, and the fuel tank was consumed to the full capacity. Additionally, the fuel gauge reading fluctuated from full to empty. The manufacturer was notified and stated that there were no related recalls. The failure and current mileages were 66,445. Updated 07/08/10 the consumer stated the problem with his vehicle has not been resolved. Updated 07/09/10.

I have a 2007 Nissan Xterra, and my son has a 2005 Nissan Xterra. He has since replaced his fuel tank indicator. Mine has just started to indicate more gas then what is actually there. Nissan has cherry picked some of the vehicles for recall, while ignoring the bulk of them in an effort minimize cost. This should not be allowed. I only have 39,000 mi. On the odometer. What if I went to pull out into traffic showing a half a tank of gas, but actually none.

The fuel level sending unit on my 2007 Nissan Xterra needed to be replaced as it was showing the incorrect fuel amount on the gauge and activated the "service engine soon" indicator. I have read that this is a problem with many Nissan Xterras from 2005-2008. A recall is becoming active for 2006 models only. This recall should be for 2005-2008 models as I have read (online forums) many vehicles in this range have had to replace this part or are in need to. The replacement part that was installed into my Xterra is still not entirely accurate. When the gauge shows 1/4 tank of fuel is left and I fill up, it will take 12-13 gallons only. The Xterra fuel tank capacity is 21 gallons. The reason I am filing this complaint is tom ake your organization aware this recall should be reviewed and expanded to additional model years. It is somewhat disheartening Nissan is well aware of this problem and not correcting it for the entire affected consumer base. Maybe if one of their executives was stuck on the side on the road with their infant child and out of gas when the gauge said 1/4 left, they would understand the severity of the problem.

1. the fuel gauge on my 2007 Nissan Xterra seems to be malfunctioning. It does not read the correct amount of gas in the vehicle. Currently the vehicle has 49,000 miles. 2. the failure occurs daily. Before recognizing the problem, my vehicle ran out of gas while traveling down a busy road in dallas Texas. The incident left my vehicle without power steering making it very dangerous to navigate the road. Luckily my stalled vehicle was not rear ended (there was not a hazard lane to move onto). I 3. I have contacted Nissan North America regarding the issue (case #6762797). They acknowledged a problem with the fuel sending unit. As I understand, a recall has been created to correct the problem. However, it only covers the 2006 and 2008. Not the 2007. I now use the trip odometer to calculate the correct amount of fuel in the tank. The engine currently shows a cel (check engine light). It is directly related to the fuel sending unit: PO463 fuel level sensor a ckt high input

My fuel sensor no longer works. Once the sensor gets to half full it sudden drops to empty. There's currently a recall from Nissan on this but does not cover the month my truck was manufactured. I drive in very remote areas and if my fuel gauge is misleading there's a great chance I'll run out of gas to be stranded in the middle of nowhere. I'm very worried about having my wife drive the vehicle and getting stranded without access to help.

My fuel gauge went out on my Nissan Xterra 07. It just stopped reading once it hit 1/4 tank. I ran out of gas thinking I was still at 1/4 tank. I was stranded on a road with very little shoulder and luckily no accidents happened.
