Xterra

The contact owns a 2007 Nissan Xterra. The contact stated the rear suspension was weak and the rear axle would strike the frame every time the contact would drive over a road bump. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who was unable to diagnose the failure. The manufacturer was not made aware of the problem and the vehicle was not repaired. The failure and current mileage was 37,000.

Owner of 2007 Nissan Xterra. Rear suspension bottoms out with minimal weight. Nissan admits there is a problem but will not do anything about it." Soft ride suspension" they call it. When carrying passengers or towing an rv, rear suspension bottoms out on roads with small bumps and potholes. When vehicle "bottoms out", all weight goes abruptly onto tires, causing damage to tire tread and sidewall.

Xterra 6-cyl

Bought a brand new 2007 Nissan Xterra offroad and the rear suspension bottoms out when traveling on any road with as little as 50 lbs. In the back. Vehicle is rated to tow but with a trailer attached it is very dangerous to control when traveling on roads with any type of bump or uneven road surface. Trying an emergency avoidance maneuver would cause a crash or injury due to a poor rear suspension. This issue is a continual problem.
