Starting problem - If battery is fully charged, it will start immediately but if you only run short trips or leave it parked for a few weeks, it is difficult to start and then it finally won't fire at all. There is enough juice to turn over the engine but the fuel pump appears to fail if the battery is not fully charged. The fuel pump is in the tank and there is no access so you need to drop the tank to get to it. But I am not sure it is the fuel pump that is the problem. It seems to be an electrical problem. Has anyone else had this problem? I believe the previous owner had the same problem because they replaced the battery and battery cables before they sold it to me.

If you drive a good distance everyday so the battery stays fully charged, it doesn't seem to have a problem. But I only use it sparingly and with short trips, it doesn't seem to keep the battery fully charged to power up the fuel pump even though the starter works and should be using a lot more voltage than the fuel pump.
