I was driving down the road (about 40 mph) when the steering wheel dropped onto my lap. The drive shaft had broken. I took the car to dealership and they replaced it, costing me $639. This is something that should not have happened and could have caused a serious accident.

While reversing out of the driveway onto a tow truck the support assembly steering column jacket broke. When this occurred steering wheel became loose and flopped around like a broken arm. The cause of the column breaking has yet to be determined.

While driving 15 mph steering wheel fell into the driver's lap. Driver was able to maintain control of vehicle, and drove it home. Driver will have the vehicle towed to the dealer for inspection and repair.
