I replaced the battery and starter on my 1999 Cutlass to get my vehicle started. Neither solution worked! It has been very frustrating because most of the solutions like disconnecting the battery and putting the key in the "on" position without turning it to start for 10 minutes has not worked. I need a solution to either by-pass the theft dectection system or reset it.

Despite this car running well, it is NOT a reliable vehicle at all. The anti-theft trips and there is NO OVERRIDE for some reason (what smart guy's idea was that?). Well, I'm not surprised to find other complaints on this issue. I am trying to find out why this is happening, and came across another posting that sounds like a possible solution which I am willing to try (see:http://en.allexperts.com/q/Auto-Theft-Prevention-2384/2009/3/Anti-Theft-System-Light.htm). It sounds similar to the idea of adding an auto-starter to bypass the ignition. I might try the screw driver idea next time to see if that helps, other than that, a mechanic told me to leave the key in the "on" position which helps the light to stop flashing sooner, I then turn it back to "off" and it will usually start. The worst is when it still won't start and the light begins flashing AGAIN! No wonder GM is broke.

Can lock up at anytime. Wait 10min with the key in the "on" position, then you should be able to restart.
Totally unreliable car.
