While brakes were applied vehicle accelerated forward, causing. A collision. Dealer and manufacturer were notified.
- Hamden, CT, USA
Rear brakes do not perform like they are intended which makes this vehicle unsafe at speeds as slow as 25 mph. When the driver is forced to "slam" on the brakes or make a sudden stop, the driver, as well as the passengers, can feel the rear tires drag/slip and the brakes make a grinding/vibrating noise. Worse yet, the distance that it takes the car to stop it much too long compared to other vehicles in its class with ABS. The feeling that the car is not going to stop in time, coupled with the sensation that your rears tires are slipping, is a very scary experience. Both the dealer and Oldsmobile have been notified, and although they acknowledge the problem, they say there is nothing that can be done and that "Oldsmobile's are just designed like that."
