1996 Plymouth Grand Voyager SE rusted strut tower. Went to check my oil level and could not believe how bad the strut towers where rusted I could push down on front fenders and watch the struts push the surrounding metal up so I typed in google search engine 1996 Plymouth Grand Voyager SE rusted strut tower and to my surprise a lot of other people have this flaw in there vans to I cant believe I was driving my kids in this van with this problem I think the band aid that Chrysler is offering is pathetic this problem should be fixed right and not at consumers cost please push Chrysler to take care of there fault on this issue.

Strut towers are rusting and pose a safety risk of crash and/or rollover when struts eventually break loose from the strut towers.

I have a "96 Grand Voyager with 82000 miles. The towers which support the front struts are both grossly rusted and fatigued. When the strut breaks through the tower it is inevitable that the tire will lock up in the wheel well causing loss of steering and vehicle control. I have contacted Chrysler regarding this and they say that there is no recall for this defect.

96 Plymouth Voyager van with 80K miles. Both strut inside engine compartment are exhibiting major metal fatigue. Both strut towers are shearing away from main frame assembly. Dealer states that this needs to be repaired or front of van will collapse. This started to occur several years ago but dealer always stated that this was not an issue. In researching the web, I have seen other complaints of metal fatigue on the Chrysler strut towers. I can provide visual evidence if desired. Would like to have the NHTSA consider this as a potential safety issue. Please contact me and I can provide digital pictures of both strut towers shearing through main chassis frame.

When the vehicle was inspected, it was found that the right front strut tower was rusted. This could cause severe damage if it fell out. The consumer was told that this was a common problem with this vehicle. The driver's side (left) strut tower was starting to rust per technician.
