When a left turn was made, the steering wheel locked up. Consumer had to jerk to the right to break loose then the turn signals would not cancel. Broken multifunction switch replaced. Air conditioner inoperative. Dealer replaced leaking evaporator. Fascias and rear sliding door damaged, dirty.

Failure of A/C compressor, bearings seized causing belt to burn. Second A/C unit to fail this way on this vehicle. First failed in June 2001at 81,500 mi. Dealer says an oil leak from the evaporator led to loss of lubrication in the 17-month-old replacement compressor. Recommends replacement of both parts. Warranties past manufacturer unhelpful.

At 600 miles, instrument cluster failed, A/C not working, no reverse. Dealer replaced instrument cluster, could not duplicate the no reverse condition, and replaced the A/C fuse. At 6,363 miles, transmission slipping and scraping noise when turning left in reverse. Dealer could not duplicate. At 7,586 miles, no start condition on numerous occasions, after the dealer had the van for over a week, they finally duplicated the problem and and replaced the starter. At 36,141 miles the serpentine belt broke because of a defective tensioner pulley, dealer replaced the belt and tensioner, supposed goodwill, but we all know about the tsb, and all the other complaints. At 36,741 miles, leaking coolant, dealer replaced the rear head gasket, and did not even check the front head. (now who ever heard of replacing one head gasket on a V-6 motor, I guess Chrysler must think they are superior). At 53,000 complete engine failure, 2 hours away from home, and now waiting to see what the cause is. According to the service manager the motor is knocking and there is a lot of metal in the oil. And I forgot to mention that this vehicle has not even fulfilled the lease term. Nlm

The A/C compressor bearings failed. The vehicle was bought new and has only 54000 miles on it. I have had several vehicle with over 150,000 miles that did not have a comprssor failure. My mother has a 23 year old car with 250,000+ miles and has not had a A/C problem. I don't know if this qualifies as a defect, but most friends I have spoken with have not had this type of problem with so few miles on their car. The total cost to fix the compressor was $650 +/-. the warrenty on the van was 3 years/36,000 miles, even though this is past the warrenty it still seems that this type of failure should not occur at this early stage in the vans "life".
