The rear heater damper actuator failed to operate the damper, melted down, then due to this meltdown, it ruined the main control box in the dash board on the heater controls......evidently shorted out. The rear actuator-mode control, part 4734026, (cost $45.60) and the ae control- A/C and heater controls, part # 467761ae, (cost $375), with $150 labor. Total cost, $570. Questions: Is this a possible fire hazard" should not a fusible link, or fuse be installed in the system to keep actuator from being melted down and control box overload protection" this would be a simple fix to keep equipment from having failure and meltdown. Plus seemingly high parts cost, and one week trying to get the parts.
